Atelier fans can expect a double dose of Ryza this year as an official manga based on the game will be published by Famitsu Magazine in the fall. Unfortunately, we only know of a Japanese release so far.

We do know a few things, however. The artist behind the manga is Riichu, who is known for their work on Kenshi o Mezashite Nyugaku Shitanoni Maho Tekisei 9999 Nandesukedo!? and according to Nintendo Soup, Shinomiya Kouta Still Can’t Die -Border Of The Dead. The art below released by Weekly Famitsu shows a tease of the project in the works. Twinfinite claims the manga will be serialized in Famitsu magazine.

No more details have been given about the project, but from the artwork, we know that this will be either an adaptation of the first game or could bridge the 3-year gap from Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout to Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy. It could cover her story on Kurken Island as a teacher or could go into more details about her growing alchemy skills. In the trailer for Atelier Ryza 2, she says that she’s reached her limit with alchemy; perhaps this manga could give us more details as to why.

The first Atelier Ryza is the best selling game in the series with over 420,000 units sold digitally and physically (via Siliconera) and currently enjoys a very positive score on Steam with 3,357 reviews. With this great reception, Famitsu probably jumped at the chance of getting a manga made from the Koei Tecmo property as the sequel approaches.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy brings back the cast of the first game as they unexpectedly meet each other once again. And like a true sequel, it has elevated its gameplay; Ryza can now swim underwater to find unique items, use a grappling hook, and climb, making for more elevated exploration. She can also rebuild items with the new Linkage Synthesis system. Battles are also “faster and more thrilling than ever,” according to Koei Tecmo.

Atelier Ryza 2 releases on PS4, Switch, and PC (Steam) sometime this winter. If you preorder the game, you will get the Summer Fashion Costume set for Ryza and Klaudia. You can also play with Ryza’s original look if you have a save file from the first game.
