When you take a step back and really look at the Pokemon series, it isn’t hard to think how wrong it actually is to pit these poor things against each other for entertainment. But in a world inhabited by creatures that have incredibly powerful abilities, many of them go relatively unscathed after so many battles. However, if things were a bit more realistic, these fights would be gruesome and brutal. That is exactly what the newest entry in Adi Shankar’s Bootleg Universe presents in The End of Pokemon, a dark look at the beloved series if it dropped all the cutesy safeguards.

It should come as no surprise that Adi Shankar, the guy behind Netflix’s Castlevania series, would bring audiences a fan trailer like this one. In this Pokemon anime parody, Ash Ketchum’s longtime buddy, Pikachu, perishes, which pushes the trainer to end Pokemon training once and for all. You won’t see Ash getting people to sign petitions, however. Instead, he takes matters into his own hands, spilling as much blood as necessary to achieve his goals.

Obviously, expect some absolutely horrific and graphic scenes in this video. But also be prepared to be thoroughly entertained. Anyone who has ever wondered what a rated R version of the anime would be like, this is the closest thing to it.

Back in the regular, safe world of Pokemon, the mobile title Pokemon GO has begun a brand new summer campaign. The Global Research Challenge 2019 rewards have been revealed, and they’re just waiting to be claimed by players around the globe. The first challenge, Spark’s Candy Research Challenge, wrapped up a few days ago, and the bonuses it unlocked are available to players until June 25. This includes the opportunity to catch Raikou in raids. The next challenge, Candela’s XP Research Challenge, is scheduled to begin July 4, and will feature Entei.

Another E3 is behind us and there is a lot to take in after a flood of new game announcements and trailers. At the event, Nintendo laid out a lot of information on the newest entry in the Pokemon franchise, Sword and Shield, but some of what fans have seen and heard are not been sitting well with them. The Nintendo Treehouse Live stream video, which showed off a gameplay demo of Pokemon Sword and Shield, currently has over 70,000 dislikes on YouTube. This has solidified it as one of the most disliked videos of E3 2019.

The main issue that players are taking umbrage at is the news that the games will not include all previous Pokemon in the series. This means they will not be able to transfer any from outside the new Galar region, dashing hopes of a complete Pokedex.
