Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina is based on its Archie Comic counterpart and was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also created Riverdale. The two shows take place in the same universe, but the witchier Netflix series is darker and tends towards a supernatural kind of horror.

Sabrina is a compelling lead character who is adamant in her views and, along with her friends, is determined to do what is right. She vanquishes bullies, stands for gender equality, freedom of speech, and more. She has a number of unique connections to other characters, with whom she shares some comedic rapport. The show never takes itself too seriously, but never compromises on sharing an important and empowering message, either. It’s chock full of very witty and insightful one-liners as well.

Zelda is usually the person who always denies Sabrina. But the cold woman has some surprisingly great advice for Sabrina after she and Harvey break up. In Part 3, Sabrina and Caliban compete for the throne of Hell. On their quest, Sabrina encounters Vlad the Impaler, who is about as pleasant as his name suggests.

He puts Sabrina under a spell that essentially renders her entranced. Vlad sucks her blood against her will, but when he chokes on her angel blood, the spell is broken. She recovers and sassily tells him off before continuing on her way.

After Nick sacrifices himself to trap Satan in his mind, Sabrina rescues him from Hell only to find that it’s not really Nick she’s brought back. Her father (aka Lucifer) taunts her, posing as Nick, flicking his forked tongue at her.

Sabrina keeps him chained up in the bowels of the Academy. What the Aunts don’t know won’t hurt them, right? Sabrina secretly visits him, but she only ever gets to speak to Satan. On one occasion, he can’t resist whispering, “Go on, call me daddy.”

When Sabrina accidentally lets Batibat on the loose, the family races to trap the sleep demon back where it belongs. Zelda is swift to action, using her powers to summon Batibat into a jar.

Completely unaffected by the chaotic sequence of events, Zelda merely closes the container and matter-of-factly says, “And that is how you trap a demon.”

4 “Sorry, Hell’s Under New Management Now.”

To prove herself a worthy queen, Sabrina must drag souls to Hell. After failing the first time around, she gets a second chance with Jimmy Platt, the ice cream man.

What Sabrina doesn’t know is that he’s been striking deals with the Dark Lord for years; in exchange for more life, Platt would offer up innocent souls to Lucifer. He tries to make a similar deal with Sabrina on the night of the pep rally, but she snarkily tells him that Hell is under new management now – hers.

When the night of her Dark Baptism finally arrives, Sabrina is still unsure of whether or not it’s the right thing to do. After negotiating some terms with Blackwood, Sabrina decides to sign her name in the Book of the Beast on the condition that she can occasionally visit her mortal friends.

However, when the time comes to say her vows, she realizes that Blackwood has been lying to her and that she will have very little freedom if she does choose the Path of Night. So she stands, eyes blazing, and defiantly announces that she will not sign her name away.

Zelda is iconic in many ways, even if she’s not always the most amicable companion. She has lived with Hilda for many years, and it seems that the first time viewers see Zelda kill her is far from the first time she’s actually done it.

When Ambrose asks where Hilda is, Zelda coolly responds, “She annoyed me, so I killed her and buried her in the yard.” Not to worry, though – Hilda can revive herself because that particular plot of the soil allows corpses to resurrect themselves.

The convincing and emphatic manner in which the witches always utter this line is very convincing. Zelda is most heard exclaiming or muttering “Praise Satan!” and it’s usually under the strangest circumstances.

This is easily the most iconic quote of the series, and it’s also pretty funny. Zelda is such an uptight woman who clings to tradition, so it’s a little hard for her to switch from “Praise Satan” to “Praise Lilith” in Part 3. But that’s the power of feminism.
