Chrisley Knows Best’s Todd Chrisley and wife Julie Chrisley settle their $2.1 million fraud allegations. The Georgia Department of Revenue agreed on a settlement of $150,000.

Todd, who is a wealthy Georgia real estate mogul and reality TV host, is a self-made millionaire. There was a 12-count indictment issued against Todd and Julie – which includes charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. They had been accused of owing more than $2.1 million in unpaid state taxes between 2008 and 2016. Todd and Julie maintained their innocence, saying that the alleged tax fraud all began in 2012 when they took an employee to court and the former employee allegedly sought revenge. Following the fraud case, there were plenty of scandals that followed. His daughter, Lindsie Chrisley claimed that her father and her brother Chase Chrisley tried to blackmail her a sex tape they bought in order to get her to lie about the tax fraud. Then, in response, Todd revealed the names of his daughter’s lovers from her alleged extramarital affairs.

The whole Chrisley family has been impacted by the legal issues and the scandals that followed. According to Us Weekly, Todd and Julie’s case has been settled. On September 27th, the Georgia Department of Revenue looked at all of the evidence and agreed on a settlement for the Chrisleys to pay. The department agreed that the Chrisleys owed unpaid taxes for one year, then it was revealed that that actually owed nothing for four of the years and that they even overpaid for four other years. The original $2.1 million owed was settled for $150,000. In the press release, Todd spoke about the outcome of the case. He said, “Julie and I knew all along that we had done nothing wrong and that when the facts all came out, we would be fine.” Todd continued, “We’re just glad that the Department of Revenue was willing to keep an open mind and look at all the evidence.”

The couple is still, however, not out of legal problems completely, as they still face federal tax evasion charges. The couple has pleaded not guilty. Their legal representation, attorney Bruce H. Morris of Finestone, Morris & White, remains optimistic about the case. The Chrisley’s attorney said in a press release, “We have maintained from day one that there has not been any tax evasion by our clients Todd and Julie Chrisley.” Morris continued, saying that while they’re still not out of hot water, “This settlement with the state is a big step in the direction of proving their innocence.”

Even though the Chrisleys are still not out of hot water completely when it comes to their legal issues, having the court agree on a settlement a fraction of what they reportedly owed is a huge step. While they’re focusing on winning their legal battle, it seems that their family dynamic is more troubled than ever with Todd’s estranged daughter Lindsie. It remains to be seen how the court rules when it comes to their tax evasion charges as the Chrisley Knows Best stars still could face jail time for the federal charges.
