Complete Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 Guide and Details

The Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 event is almost here, and the details about the special occasion have finally been revealed. From October 23 at 6:00pm PDT to November 3 at 6:00pm PDT, players will have an opportunity to catch an assortment of ghost Pokemon, complete new spooky research, and even snag some fun avatar shop items. This Pokemon GO event is made even bigger with Mega Gengar and even some creepy Pokemon costumes.

During this Halloween event, Ghost-type Pokemon will appear more often in the wild. In addition, players can catch special costumed versions of both Gengar and Sableye. Costumed Gengar looks like a Banette and will show up in raids, while costumed Sableye has a Litwick hat and can be found in the wild as well as in eggs. As for new Pokemon, Galarian Yamask will be added to the game for the first time.

Players can complete the new Pokemon GO Special Research, called A Spooky Message Unmasked. This will help Professor Willow investigate the mysterious Galarian Yamask and why it is suddenly appearing. In addition, certain field research will give players a chance to catch a Spiritomb. This mythical Pokemon can even be shiny, so players need to find as many as they can. Throughout the entire event, players will also have 2x transfer and catch candy, so there is even more incentive for trainers to go catch these ghosts.

Any player that completed the Mega Buddy Challenge Timed Research can grab the new Timed Research for this event. As previously advertised, this new research awards players with Gengar Mega Energy, which will be perfect for the new costumed ghosts they will be catching. In addition to the regular event, players also have until October 28 to sign up for the Grubhub event, which will allow them to catch Unown G and Unown H. Although this event isn’t until the beginning of November, players need to make sure the Halloween excitement doesn’t cause them to forget about the deadline.

There will be a few special days during this event for players to get extra goodies. October 25 is Catch Mastery: Ghost Day, where players can complete exclusive timed research while catching even more ghosts. The GO Battle League: Halloween Cup starts October 26 and ends on November 3, so players need to get their Poison-, Bug-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Fairy-type Pokemon ready for battle. Finally, Alolan Marowak Raid Day will take place on October 31, giving players another ghost to capture.

Darkrai will be appearing in five-star raids, and snapshots will give trainers a spooky surprise during this event. The avatar shop is also getting an update, so players can try out the new Spooky Pose as they battle Giovanni for Shadow Mewtwo. The shop will have a Pikachu Mask, Gengar Onesie, Sableye Goggles, Sableye Mask, and Banette Mask.

Finally, players can purchase the new Creepy Crate, Boo Bundle, and Pumpkin Pack boxes in the shop. These are sure to contain all of the necessary items to catch and train these fun Ghost-type Pokemon. With the current Strange Egg event and plenty more on the way, it seems like there is rarely a dull moment in Pokemon GO these days.
