Hot on the heels of the Clear Skies update that gave players an impressive new Ramsgate hub, Phoenix Labs will release patch 1.3.4 for Dauntless on August 12 at 10 am PT. The patch will add in some of the most requested quality of life improvements to the game, with the addition of a FOV slider for console players.

That said, there’s a small catch.

The camera distance is now configurable in the options, and overall views should be more consistent while fighting Behemoths. The vertical FOV will not be static, and the horizontal will auto-adjust when changing the screen aspect ratio. As a result, a wider screen now means that a player can see more of what is on the sides. While consoles now have a FOV slider, in order to prevent fisheye the range of this is now 75-85 degrees, down from 35-120 degrees.

Other patch highlights include the correction of a bug that incorrectly prevented The Hunger sword from generating Special meter while in Overdrive. Now players who can apply constant pressure should be able to extend the duration of their Special meter for far longer.

Another important bug that has been corrected is, “Fixed a rare crash that could occur when using the sword.” This was predominantly occurring when queuing for a hunt, and then swapping from one loadout to another while on the Airship, and then crashing upon unsheathing the sword weapon on the actual hunt. If this particular instance happens again, be sure to fill out a report indicating that there is still a bug, just in case.

Another game-crashing bug that has been corrected is for the Repeaters, which was happening after using the Full-Bore or Salvo chamber. This is a relief to see since any meta build should include this empowered ability on cooldown.

Another minor change that should help newer players is a reduced amount of damage it takes to stagger a Lesser Behemoth These are largely faced by newer players and are an excellent way to learn the basic fundamentals of each Behemoth’s attacks and abilities, and this change will make it easier to stagger them at a point when players may have limited access to staggering weapons and added effects through armor and cells.

There are still several bugs that remain in the game and on currently being worked on with no estimate date for a fix. Malkarion’s transmog armor is still not showing its correct effect, for example, and axe users need to be careful as axe throws can become permanently stuck in the fourth arena of Umbral Escalation, for some reason.

However, the biggest bug right now that needs correction ASAI is when the Nayzaga Behemoth randomly appears to lose its hitbox during a fight. There does not seem to be any specific trigger for this, but from one moment to the next players will be swinging right through their target to no effect and are of course still vulnerable to its attacks.

There are several other changes going live today, and they can all be read here.
