Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Get and Evolve Kubfu

The Isle of Armor DLC will be introducing a lot of new content to Pokemon Sword and Shield. Pokemon from older generations will finally be coming to the eighth generation region, and along with older fan favorites, new Pokemon will be joining the game as well, including a legendary Pokemon named Kubfu with the potential for two different evolutions.
Pokemon Sword and Shield’s new DLC is available to play on June 17. Fans are excited to experience the new additions to the game, and since trainers in the new area will have their Pokemon level-scaled to highest leveled Pokemon in the player’s party, players at all points in the main game will be able to explore the new areas. In this new area, players can obtain Kubfu, a fighting-type that can evolve into Urshifu, which can be either a fighting and dark-type or a fighting and water-type depending on the circumstances of the Pokemon’s evolution.
In order for a trainer to get Kubfu, they need to advance through the story that the Isle of Armor DLC presents the player. This means that the player has to clear three different trials at the Master Dojo. Once the final trial is completed, trainers can talk to Mustard to receive Kubfu. If a player wants a specific nature and IVs for their legendary fighting type, they should save their game before talking to Mustard.
Once a player gets Kubfu on their team, they can work towards evolving the Pokemon. Kubfu evolves into Urshifu, a Pokemon with two different forms that determine its secondary type and signature move. Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style is a fighting and water-type with the signature move Surging Strikes, which deals three blows that always land critical hits, and Urshifu Single-Strike Style is a fighting and dark-type with the signature move Wicked Blow, which deals a critical hit that bypasses the opponent Pokemon’s stat changes.
Kubfu can only evolve into one of these Urshifu styles. To evolve Kubfu, the player must complete one of the Towers of Two Fists on the Isle of Armor. Clearing the Tower of Darkness gives the player Urshifu’s Single-Strike Style form, while finishing the Tower of Water grants them the Rapid-Strike Style Urshifu.
Now that the Isle of Armor DLC is live, fans will be able to train this new legendary fighting-type Pokemon to new heights as they scale whichever of the Tower of the Two Fists they decide to climb.
