Disney has made a number of lovaable characters over the years, but there are some side characters who don’t get enough credit for helping move along the main character’s story. Some of these characters may only appear for a short period of time but they help create a shift in the storyline or remind people of an underlying issue.

In certain cases, these side characters may not have the best intentions and can be on the side of evil. There are Disney characters who give the main character a hard time and oftentimes help knock some needed sense into them; then there are those Disney side characters who weren’t so helpful.

10 Worst: Chef Skinner (Ratatouille)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

Ratatouille is a beloved Disney film about an unexpected chef and his friendship with a human. Linguini is a down on his luck garbage boy who meets a rat named Remy. In order to keep Remy safe, Linguini hides him in his hat from the mean chef and restaurant owner, Chef Skinner (Ian Holm).

Chef Skinner is unarguably one of the more distasteful Ratatouille characters who help create drama with the main characters. Skinner doesn’t truly believe that Linguini would magically have the cooking skills of a top chef. He is out to get him and reveal his secret. He tries on many occasions to steal Lignuinni’s hat and at one point even calls the health inspector at the restaurant.

9 Worst: Pain & Panic (Hercules)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

Pain and Panic (Bobcat Goldthwait and Matt Frewer) can be considered sidekicks to Hades in Hercules. While they appear in a majority of scenes in the film, they are considered to be supporting characters compared to Hades or Hercules. They’re also mischievous in their own ways seeing as their creatures of the underworld. What makes them slightly cynical is the joy they get when they feed Hercules the serum to make him mortal.

They’re on board with their masters plan to take over the gods and have ultimate power. They were even ready to kill Hercules as a mortal baby. They work as henchmen and shift into young boys to lure Hercules into the lair of Hydra. When Hercules is stripped of his strength they are more than happy to help humiliate him.

8 Worst: LeFou (Beauty and The Beast)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

Beauty and The Beast’s side character, LeFou (Jesse Corti) works as a sidekick and second antagonist in the film. LeFou is a short and pudgy man who is also snide and a trickster. Despite LeFou taking a lot of Gaston’s abuse, he also has his fair share of mean acts towards others. He plays along with Gaston’s plot to get rid of Belle’s father so he can marry her.

He tricks her father into describing the Beast so that the town’s people would think he’s gone insane. What makes LeFou one of the slightly worse characters is the fact that he goes along with Gaston’s jealousy and anger. He is by his side when they attack the castle and tries to kill Lumiere. Even though LeFou is smart and tries to keep Gaston level-headed, it doesn’t make up for his conniving demeanor.

7 Worst: Iago (Aladdin)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

Iago is just as evil as his master Jafar in Disney’s Aladdin. He might even be more so due to the fact that he is just as power-hungry and desires riches just like his master. Iago often making remarks about things that anger him. What makes him important to the story is that he is also on board with Jafar’s plan to get the genie and gain power. He becomes frustrated at their failed attempts to get into the cave.

Iago also has an immense disdain towards the Sultan for feeding him bad crackers and having to abide by his rulings. It was actually Iago’s plan to get Jafar to marry Jasmine in order to have a direct line to the throne. After achieving their plan, Aladdin and Jafar have a battle to which Iago is more than happy to cheer on his master to eliminate Aladdin.

6 Worst & Best: Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po (Mulan)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po are considered tied between good side characters and a bit bad. This is because their demeanor shifts as the film goes on and become valuable friends and allies to Mulan. When Mulan first joins the army, she is automatically disliked by Yao after making a comment about getting a “knuckle sandwich.” The ensuing fight leads to everyone getting punished which makes Yao and Ling give Mulan a hard time during training.

Chien-Po is more serene and calm compared to his companions. Even though the group starts out with mischievous intentions towards Mulan, they become her greatest friends. They stand by her when she is revealed to be a woman and help save the emperor.

5 Best: David Kawena (Lilo & Stitch)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

But what makes him a good man is his patience. He understands Nani’s stress of having to raise Lilo as her own. David also acts as a guardian to Lilo and helps when he can.

He even listens to Lilo when no one else does and teaches her about yin and yang to help her work together with Stitch. All in all, David is a supporting character worth noting for his compassion, patience and kind heart.

4 Best: Professor Archimedes Q. Porter (Tarzan)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

One may not think much of Professor Archimedes Q. Porter in Tarzan but he does play a minor role in Jane’s future and overall storyline. Professor Porter has a strong relationship with his daughter, Jane. They both share a passion for explorations and academics. They venture into the jungle to find gorillas and meet Tarzan.

Professor Porter has a kind and comical demeanor that doesn’t believe in hurting innocent creatures. He also openly accepts Tarzan for who he is and tries to teach him alongside Jane. His major role occurs at the end when he helps in rescuing Tarzan’s family. When bidding Tarzan farewell, Porter realizes his daughter’s true happiness is with Tarzan and urges her to stay and so does he.

3 Best: Edna (The Incredibles)

Disney Ranking 10 Side Characters From Worst To Best

There’s no denying that Edna is a great supporting/side character in both The Incredibles films. She not only is the famous designer to superheroes but also smacks some sense into the Incredible family. When Helen goes to visit her after her suspicions about Bob, Helen breaks down. Edna wants nothing of it and argues with her that she should have more strength.

Edna also supports them in any capacity when it comes to their return to superhero life and makes them new suits. Edna also does the caring act of creating a suit for Baby Jack and his various powers. She even babysits him and dedicates herself to figuring out his peculiar circumstances. She also, in an odd way, reassures Bob of his parenting skills.
