All three recent games in the Dragon Ball franchise might be getting an Xbox Series X/S upgrade soon, though it remains unknown if they will follow on PlayStation 5. Though backward compatibility is already a prominent part of both current-gen systems, plenty of last-gen titles are being beefed up to benefit from the new console era’s significantly more advanced hardware.

Among the games of the previous generation said to be getting a new lease on life on current systems are 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight, which Microsoft hinted as coming to the Xbox Series X earlier this week, and last year’s long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is arriving on the PS5 alongside new DLC chapter titled FF7 Remake Intergrade. Plenty of recently released titles like Cyberpunk 2077 have already provided a free current-gen upgrade to players who bought them on the Xbox One or PS4, a trend that continues to be good news for fans that are still trying to get a hold of the notoriously difficult to locate PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

According to MP1ST.com, Dragon Ball game publisher Namco Bandai recently leaked that Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are being ported to the Xbox Series X/S soon. This was shown at the end of several new trailers for additional DLC content for the Dragon Ball Z games, which featured the Xbox Series X/S logo alongside the last-gen systems the games were originally made for. Some observers think that this means that Namco Bandai is preparing a current-gen upgrade to these titles, as the Xbox One version being played on Xbox Series X/S is still usually considered the last-gen port of the game, just being played on newer hardware.

All three of the current Dragon Ball games by Namco Bandai have earned high praise among fans of Akira Toriyama’s beloved Dragon Ball franchise and will receive further DLC content at some point in the next few months. DragonBall Xenoverse 2 will get a new expansion pack that will bring new characters and missions from Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball FighterZ recently added Super Sayian 4 Gogeta to Arc System Works’ cell-shaded 2D fighting extravaganza, and last year’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakrot will get a new side story centered around the time-traveling hero Trunks.

It’s possible that the Xbox Series X/S logo on the advertisements for Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a mistake, as Namco Bandai recently had to debunk a rumor that Kakarot was coming to the Nintendo Switch after its logo was seen in Kakarot most recent DLC ad. Furthermore, while there is no confirmation that the Dragon Ball games are also getting updated on PlayStation 5, it would be very likely should the rumor of an Xbox Series X/S port are true.
