As Dancing With The Stars season 30 is soon coming to an end, longtime viewers are expressing everything they miss about the older seasons of the show. With the milestone season came a few changes to the layout of the dancing competition. In recent years, the show has changed drastically from what it once was. While the newer viewers may not be aware of these changes, longtime viewers miss the way the show use to be.

Season 30 is nearing finale night. As the remaining couples are headed into the semi-finals, two high-scoring couples left the ballroom following the season’s second double elimination. Both fans and the Dancing With the Stars cast were shocked when Olivia Jade Giannulli and Val Chmerkovskiy were eliminated. Then, Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater, as well as Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev were in the bottom two. The judges ultimately decided to save Melora and Artem, resulting in Jimmie and Emma also leaving the competition.

Aside from the numerous shocking eliminations this season, longtime viewers have not been happy with the overall season. In fact, many have been expressing on Reddit how much they miss the older seasons of the show. One user recalled the “long rehearsal packages” that would be shared prior to each couple’s performance. It was during these packages that viewers truly got to know each contestant. Now, with the addition of weekly theme nights on DWTS, these packages have been shortened, which ultimately resulted in them being quite less personal. Fans miss being able to see the true struggles that the strenuous daily rehearsals entail. One user referred to the weekly themes as “one big advertisement.”

The show also has a new voting method that many viewers don’t like. They miss having the opportunity to watch all of the performances prior to voting for their favorite dance. Now, they have to base their vote on either their favorite star or who they think will have the best performance due to the fact that voting ends so quickly after the final dance. In addition to this, fans do not like the controversial Len Goodman voting rule, in which his vote is ultimately the final deciding factor for which couple is eliminated despite what the other judges vote. Many believe this results in unfair eliminations.

Obviously, the biggest change that has been made on the show that has angered dedicated viewers is the firing of longtime host Tom Bergeron, as well as his co-host Erin Andrews. The duo was fired prior to the start of season 29 last year. They were then replaced by Tyra Banks. Tyra’s addition to the show has been controversial amongst viewers, as many do not enjoy watching her on the show. They claim she does not have the same chemistry and connection with the show and cast as Tom and Erin once did. Unfortunately, this is the new era of the show. Therefore, all of these factors that fans once loved will most likely never return to the competition series.
