Gillian Anderson is the latest star to join the upcoming Netflix film, The Pale Blue Eye, along with numerous others. Helmed and written by Scott Cooper, the new picture is based on the 2006 novel by Louis Bayard. The 51-year-old filmmaker has sought to adapt the book for over a decade. The story follows a detective and a young cadet, who would later become known as Edgar Allan Poe, as they attempt to solve a series of murders at the United States Military Academy, West Point, in 1830.

According to Deadline, Anderson is among a very long list of new castmates joining the Gothic thriller. Among the new additions are Lucy Boynton, Timothy Spall, Fred Hechinger, Robert Duvall, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Joey Brooks, Brennan Cook, Gideon Glick, Matt Helm, Steven Maier, and Charlie Tahan. Details on exactly who each new cast member will portray are yet to be revealed.

Previously announced to star were Harry Melling (Harry Potter) as Allan Poe, and Christian Bale (Dark Knight) as the lead detective. It was also reported earlier in the year that Netflix paid out almost $55 million to secure the rights to the film, allegedly fending off multiple interested parties. Pale Blue Eye marks Bale’s latest collaboration with Cooper, after the pair’s work together on titles including Hostiles and Out of the Furnace. The duo are producing the film alongside John Lesher and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures.
