Elden Ring is expected to be one of the biggest releases of 2022, already winning an award as the most anticipated game in 2020. New information revealed in a bittersweet announcement on Monday detailed a delay to the release date of the game along with the decision to run a Closed Network Test. It was reported the depth of the game and level of freedom players will have to strategize had exceeded expectations, making an extension in development necessary. The open-world of Elden Ring consists of six main areas that can be explored and conquered in any order. This is a big change in formula compared to the interconnected maps of previous Souls titles. The impressive amount of customization options available for equipment, skills, weapon arts, and more will allow players to take on challenges with a wide variety of strategies.

Only some of the players that sign up will be chosen to join in the Closed Network Test for Elden Ring. The selected players will get to experience the beginning hours of the game months in advance, though the exact area that will be playable during the test is currently undisclosed. How To Join Elden Ring’s Closed Network Test

This test will be part of the final stages of development for Elden Ring and will help to prevent any further delays to its release date. Players that wish to register will be asked to enter their preferred console to use for the Closed Network Test, as well as any previously played FromSoftware titles and their email address. Though Elden Ring will be released for PC, this test will only be for the console versions of the game. This Closed Network Test will help check the effectiveness of Elden Ring’s servers and spot any potential bugs in its operations. This title boasts multiplayer capabilities similar to other Souls titles, including co-op and PvP gameplay, making network capacity an important factor. Crossplay will be supported between console generations but cross-platform multiplayer will not be available.
