With Christmas merely days away, every retailer and digital marketplace is running sales to get people spending. In promotion of Epic’s Winter Sale 2019, the company is handing out one free game a day until January 1, 2020. To start off the celebrations, Subset Games’ Into The Breach is now available for all Epic users to claim.

A critical darling from last year, Into The Breach is the follow-up to Subset’s FTL. Shifting genres to tactical strategy, the game bears some resemblance to Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics. Each move of your unit costs a turn and you’ll need to plan a few steps ahead to stay in front of the AI. Combined with roguelike elements, the tension of each round builds until you’re at the end with only a single hit left between victory and defeat. This isn’t for the faint of heart.

Into The Breach will only be available until tomorrow at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST, so make sure to grab it now. Epic is staying quiet on what title is next, but almost anything seems applicable. Here’s hoping that Control somehow makes the cut.

Despite many being skeptical, Epic really did stick to its promise of constant free games for 2019. Initially going for a bi-weekly rotation, the company ramped things up to weekly giveaways until just now. For the holiday season, a game a day will be given out until the new year. This will likely conclude the promotion as Epic has no plans for a similar initiative in 2020.

Still, the vast range and quality of the titles given out has been pretty staggering. The unexpected drop of six Batman titles was certainly great, but even things like The Messenger, Alan Wake, Rayman Legends, and Celeste have been insanely good gets. They may not be 100% current titles, but they’re all worth playing.

This doesn’t make up for how lackluster the store is, though. If Epic truly is going to cease handing out titles, it better start improving its storefront ten told. This complaint may come off like a broken record, but how is there still not a shopping cart?
