One of the key distinctions between these swords is whether they are steel or silver. Different monsters can be vulnerable to either kind, so always look at a monster’s vulnerabilities before diving straight into a fight.

The majority of the swords can be purchased with gold in the shop section of the app. Some are obtained through quests, or early download bonuses. There are so many swords to choose from, it begs the question: which sword is best suited for you?

11 The Witcher’s Steel Sword

Witchers must start somewhere, and with this sword in hand, you can embark upon your monster hunting journey. This sword being the default, you will not have to spend any of your money.

But here is the catch; with the default sword, you get no added benefits. This means that you will not be able to take full advantage of combining sword stats with signs, potions, or oils. But for a first sword, it does the job and slays those monsters.

10 Dawnbringer

This sword is perfect if you do not want to cough up a lot of gold for a new sword. This sword can be unlocked by completing the ‘Sword in the Stone’ quest. This quest comprises of buying a map from the blacksmith after completing the four prior main story quests. This map costs 500 gold and will bring you to a rock with a sword in it.

This quest can be tricky, as you can only fight the monster to gain the sword at dawn or dusk — not ideal if you do not like venturing out in the dark. This sword does have an added perk: all damage dealt is increased by 10 percent at night. Again, this is not great if you do not wish to leave the house at night.

9 Wolven Steel/Silver Sword

Critical hits in the midst of battle really can be a game-changer. With the Wolven Swords, you can make those critical hits more often over the course of a fight. The steel and silver versions can be purchased in the shop for 3,200 gold and 3,600 gold, respectively.

When equipped, these swords will accelerate the filling of the critical hit meter by 10%. Pair this with a Blizzard potion that can be crafted in your inventory, and you will be inflicting critical hit attacks like there is no tomorrow.

8 Ursine Steel/Silver Sword

Perhaps you prefer using strong attacks — they are good against many monsters. It is an easy way to pace yourself and inflict big damage on your prey. Equipping the Ursine swords will make your strong attacks pack a punch, as these swords increase damage inflicted on your enemies by strong attacks by 15%.

The Ursine steel and silver swords retail for 1,600 gold and 1,800 gold respectively. These are much cheaper than many other swords, meaning this may be a great choice to gain your vital first silver sword.

7 Feline Steel/Silver Sword

Scrap the strong attacks, because, if you would much rather use fast attacks when banishing beasts, the Feline swords are just for you. Similar to the Ursine swords, the Feline swords will increase damage by 15%, but this time for fast attacks.

These swords can be purchased in the shop: 1,600 gold for the steel and 1,800 gold for the silver sword. If you want to be in and out of battle in a flash, this sword might just be for you.

6 Manticore Steel/Silver Sword

Signs can be an important strategy when it comes to exploiting a monster’s weaknesses. If signs are a must for you and you want to keep the battle fast-paced, the Manticore swords could be a great addition to your weapon rack.

The Manticore swords accelerate the cooldown time after casting a sign by 30%. Purchased in the shop for 3,200 gold for the steel version and/or 3,600 gold for the silver, these swords work perfectly for those monsters who have elemental damage vulnerabilities.

5 Griffin Steel/Silver Sword

If you opt for power over speed, the Griffin swords pack that extra punch when it comes to casting signs. These swords increase the effectiveness of casting signs by 30%. Available in the shop for 3,600 gold (steel) and 3,800 gold (silver), these swords can make your sign casting all that more dangerous.

A handy tip for you Witchers out there: pair this with a Petri’s Filter and see the damage roll in.

4 Kaer Morhen Sword

The early bird catches the worm, so to speak. This sword, the Kaer Morhen sword, was only available to unlock in the first week of The Witcher: Monster Slayer’s launch. One perk of this sword is that it came at no extra cost.

The special effect of this sword is that it gives you a 10% increase in experience points earned after slaying a monster. The Kaer Morhen sword is perfect for an easy way to level up faster. It’s too bad it was only available for only a short time.

3 A’báeth

If an abundance of gold seems to be a problem you have, the most expensive sword that can be purchased in the shop could be a great way to get rid of it. The silver sword A’báeth holds a price tag of 12,000 gold.

What makes this sword so great is that, if you are willing to spend the money, it is the Kaer Morhen sword, but better. When equipped, the number of experience points gained after a battle is increased by 25%. So, if you missed out on the Kaer Morhen sword and want to level up fast, this is a great choice for you.

2 Caerme

Caerme is the most expensive steel sword in-game, donning a price tag of 6,400 gold. What makes this sword worth the high cost is the devastating critical hits that it can inflict.

When using this sword, it will increase your critical hit damage by a massive 50%. This could change the tide of battle with a boost to one of the strongest hits in the game.

1 Melltith

This sword was featured in The Witcher 3 and is now available to all Witchers on their quest to slay monsters. Yet another sword that can be purchased in the store, this silver sword costs 7,200 gold — a high price for a sword with a great bonus.

What is this bonus? You will have a 15% chance of inflicting fire damage on a monster when wielding this sword. Melltith would be perfect for taking down monsters like the Ulfhedinn. It gives you a powerful yet versatile sword that has that magic flare.
