Everything We Know About Pokemon GO Tour Kanto

After the massive success of Pokemon GO Fest 2020 (in terms of ticket sales and user feedback), it seemed inevitable that the next global ticketed event would arrive in the game before long. Although there have been smaller events, like the monthly Community Day Special Research opportunities, the next major global event is now being revealed as Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto.

The event will obviously put a spotlight on the franchise’s first generation and bring back a ton of special features, spawns, Eggs, and Battle Raids built around the first 150 Pokedex entries. Similar to GO Fest 2020, Pokemon GO players don’t need to purchase a ticket to enjoy the special spawns and Raid Bosses, but there will be a lot of other bonuses and activities around for those who do cough up some real world dollars in exchange for entry to the event.

For most players, one of the most exciting features of this event is going to be the appearance of shiny versions of all 150 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region. Obtaining a full shiny Kanto-dex has already been a goal of many collectors for a long time, so having an event that allows players to finish that chase is going to be a major selling point for a certain type of player. The ticket will cost players $11.99.

Official Event Description

“Experience the wonder of the games that sparked a global phenomenon! In the ticketed version of this event, you’ll choose between the Red Version or Green Version of the event experience, each featuring version-exclusive Pokémon. Complete event-exclusive Special Research, and test your Pokémon-collection skills. Trading with a friend who chose the other version will be important, just like it was in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green! Can you collect all 150 original Pokémon in one day?

We’re also excited to announce that during the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event, the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will be available as Shiny Pokémon, some of them for the first time ever. If you’re lucky, you just might find a Shiny Pokémon! You’ll be able to encounter these Shiny Pokémon after the event is over, too.

That’s not all—after completing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research, Trainers will receive a second event-exclusive Special Research line. Overcoming difficult challenges and daunting tasks will be required to complete it, but it’ll all be worth it to discover Shiny Mew. “

Trade range will be increased to 40 km.

It is also exciting to see the recently tested extended trade range being put to good use here. 40 km is a lot of distance, which should give players a great opportunity to trade with their Friends around their local city or town throughout the 12-hour long event.

As trainers continue working through these amazing events and enjoying the early days of the GO Beyond update, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
