A fan petition to add Shaggy from Scooby-Doo into Mortal Kombat 11 has reached over 150,000 signatures as of the time of this writing. The recent Mortal Kombat games have added numerous horror movie icons to the cast, but we may be seeing an iconic cartoon character performing Fatalities in the future.
Fans may be wondering why Shaggy of all characters would be considered as a character for the ultra-violent Mortal Kombat series. The reason is due to a recent popular meme that has portrayed Shaggy as some kind of Dragon Ball Z character who is constantly holding his incredible power in check. The meme tends to show Shaggy defeating popular anime & video game characters while bragging about needing to use a small percentage of his full power in order to achieve victory.

The popularity of the “Ultra Instinct Shaggy” meme has prompted the creation of a petition on Change.org created by Woken News that calls for Shaggy’s inclusion in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 fighting game. As of the time of writing, the petition has received over 153,000 signatures, with more being added each minute. There has yet to be any official response about the petition from Warner Bros., which is the company that owns the rights to both the Mortal Kombat and Scooby Doo franchises.
Fans might think Shaggy has zero chance of making it into a Mortal Kombat game, but there have been times when the Scooby-Doo series have dealt with more adult material, such as the recent Scooby Apocalypse comic book series that showed the gang solving mysteries in a post-apocalyptic world, the Scooby-Doo/Supernatural crossover, or the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated animated series that included references to the Cthulhu Mythos.
The recent Mortal Kombat games have added a lot of horror movie characters to the roster, including the Xenomorph from Aliens, the Predator, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface. The Scooby Doo franchise has used a lot of horror elements in the past, so Shaggy might fit right in if he battles the likes of Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
However, it’s still unlikely that a character from Scooby-Doo will make it into the next Mortal Kombat game, due to how protective Warner Bros. is over the Scooby-Doo license and the huge numbers it brings in through merchandise sales. That said, fans can still dream of the day where Shaggy rams the Mystery Machine into Johnny Cage as one of his Fatalities.

Mortal Kombat 11 is due to be released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23rd, 2019.
