There are over a hundred emotes in Final Fantasy 14 that let you express yourself in a variety of ways. For times when you need to move to the music, there are over a dozen unique dances you can perform.

With so many dances, it can get difficult to find out where you can get each one. Some are rewards from sidequests while others can only be purchased with real money. In this guide, we’ll go over every dance emote and how you can get them.

Mog Station Dances

These dances can only be obtained by purchasing them from the Mog Station for real money. Some of these dances were previously available for free during limited-time events like the Moonfire Faire, but now must be purchased from the Mog Station.

  • This dance was originally available as a free reward from the Moonfire Fair 2014
  • This dance was originally available as a free reward from Little Ladies’ Day 2017
  • This dance was originally available as a free reward from Moonfire Faire 2020

Sidequest Dances

These dances can be obtained from various sidequests. Some are awarded from the final quest in a quest-chain, while others must be purchased from Beast Tribe NPCs. Listed below is each of the dances you can get as a result of completing a sidequest.

Step Dance

  • Complete the sidequest ‘Good for What Ales You’
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Complete one of the three following quests
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘Renewing the Covenant’
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Mizzenmast Repast’
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Royal Reception’
    • NPC Location: Dodozan – Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x:7.5, y:12.3)
  • Pre-requisite:
    • Complete one of the three following quests
      • Main Scenario Quest ‘Renewing the Covenant’
      • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Mizzenmast Repast’
      • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Royal Reception’
  • NPC Location: Dodozan – Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x:7.5, y:12.3)
  • Complete one of the three following quests
    • Main Scenario Quest ‘Renewing the Covenant’
    • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Mizzenmast Repast’
    • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Royal Reception’

You will need to be level 14 or higher to undertake this quest, and you’ll need to complete the main story up until you leave your starting city-state. Then, speak with Dodozan in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks to accept the quest ‘Good for What Ales You’. Follow this quest and you’ll be rewarded with the Step Dance emote.

Harvest Dance

  • Complete the sidequest ‘Saw That One Coming’
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Complete one of the three following quests
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘Renewing the Covenant’
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Mizzenmast Repast’
        • Main Scenario Quest ‘A Royal Reception’

After leaving your starting city-state and reaching level 14, you will be able to undertake this quest from the NPC Eral in New Gridania. Speak with him and follow the quest to unlock the Harvest Dance emote.

Similar to the Step Dance and the Harvest Dance, you will be able to accept this quest from P’molminn after leaving your starting city-state and arriving in Ul’dah. Accept the quest ‘Help Me, Lord of the Dance’ to unlock the Ball Dance emote.

Manderville Dance

  • Complete the sidequest ‘The Hammer’
    • Pre-requisites:

      • Hildibrand Quest Line ‘The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen’ through ‘The Science of Deduction’
    • NPC Location: Hildibrand – Western Thanalan (x:20.1, y:24.6)
  • Pre-requisites:
    • Main Scenario Quest ‘The Ultimate Weapon’
    • Hildibrand Quest Line ‘The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen’ through ‘The Science of Deduction’

To unlock the Manderville Dance, you will first need to be level 50 and complete the Main Scenario Quest ‘The Ultimate Weapon’. Completing this quest will open up tons of additional quests and other content, including the Hildibrand Quest Line in Ul’dah. This story begins with the quest ‘The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen’ in Ul’dah (x:9.8, y:8.7). Follow this chain of quests until you reach ‘The Hammer’. Finishing this quest will unlock the Manderville Dance.

Sundrop Dance

  • Complete the Vanu Vanu Beast Tribe quest ‘Sundrop the Beat
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Reach Respected Reputation (rank 5) with the Vanu Vanu
    • NPC Location: Linu Vali – The Sea of Clouds (x:6.6, y:14.3)

To unlock the Sundrop Dance, you will need to reach Respected reputation rank with the Vanu Vanu. You can accept three Beast Tribe quests from the Vanu Vanu each day, so it will take a few days of diligently completing your Beast Tribe quests to reach Respected. After you get to this rank, complete the quest ‘Sundrop the Beat’ from Linu Vali to unlock the dance.

Moogle Dance

  • Complete the Moogle Beast Tribe quest ‘Piecing Together the Past’
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Reach Honored Reputation (rank 6) with the Moogles
    • NPC Location: Master Mogzin – The Churning Mists (x:15.7, y:28.8)
  • Pre-requisite:
    • Reach Honored Reputation (rank 6) with the Moogles

The Moogle Dance is a reward from reaching Honored reputation with the Moogles. You’ll need to complete your Moogle Beast Tribe quests every day to slowly build up reputation, so this dance will take a while to unlock. After reaching Honored rank, speak with Master Mogzin in The Churning Mists to accept the quest ‘Piecing Together the Past’. Completing this quest will reward the Moogle Dance.

Moonlift Dance

  • Complete the Allied Beast Tribe quest ‘Eternity, Loyalty, Honesty’
    • Pre-requisites:
      • Complete the Vanu Vanu Beast Tribe Quest ‘The Nest of Honor’
      • Complete the Moogle Beast Tribe Quest ‘The Zenith of Craftsmanship’
      • Complete the Vath Beast Tribe Quest ‘A Symbiotic Friendship’
      • Complete the following Allied Beast Tribe Quests
        • ‘When Good Dragons Go Bad’
        • ‘Who Was That Masked Man’
        • ‘Lift Me to the Moon’

To unlock the Moonlift Dance, you will need to reach Bloodsworn Reputation with the Vanu Vanu, Moogles, and Vath Beast Tribes. This is the highest reputation rank you can reach, and will take a few weeks of doing Beast Tribe quests every day to reach. After you have attained Bloodsworn with all three Beast Tribes, you can accept the quest ‘When Good Dragons Go Bad’ from Drydox in Idyllshire (x:6.9, y:7.2). Then, follow the quest chain until you reach ‘Eternity, Loyalty, Honesty’. Completing this quest will reward you with the Moonlift Dance and increase your reputation with each Beast Tribe to Allied rank.

Yol Dance

  • Complete the Beast Tribe quest ‘Waiting for Gyodo’
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Reach Honored Reputation (rank 6) with the Namazu
    • NPC Location: Gyoshin – The Azim Steppe (x:6.1, y:23.3)
  • Purchased from Gyosho for 8 Namazu Koban
  • Pre-requisite:
    • Reach Honored Reputation (rank 6) with the Namazu

  • Reach Honored Reputation (rank 6) with the Namazu

The Yol Dance can be purchased from Gyosho for 8 Namazu Koban after reaching Honored Reputation with the Namazu. After you fill the reputation bar for Respected, you will be able to accept the quest ‘Waiting for Gyodo’. Completing this quest will unlock additional items to be purchased from Gyosho in The Azim Steppe, including the Yol Dance.

Manderville Mambo

  • Complete the sidequest ‘Don’t Do the Dewprism’
    • Pre-requisites:
      • Complete the Hildibrand quest ‘Her Last Vow’
      • Complete the Further Hildibrand Adventure quest ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’
      • Complete the Even Further Hildibrand Adventure quests ‘A Hingan Tale: Nashu Goes East’ through ‘The Past Is Never Past’

To unlock the Manderville Mambo dance, you will need to complete every Hildibrand-related quest, beginning from ‘The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen’ through ‘Don’t Do the Dewprism’. Along the way, you will need to complete the Main Scenario quests ‘The Ultimate Weapon’, ‘Heavensward’, and ‘Stormblood’. Follow the questline until you reach ‘Don’t Do the Dewprism’, which can be accepted from Hildibrand in Kugane. Then, complete this final quest to unlock the Manderville Mambo.

Lali Hop

  • Complete the Beast Tribe quest ‘Tanks for the Memory’
    • Pre-requisite:
      • Reach Bloodsworn Reputation (rank 8) with the Dwarves
    • NPC Location: Ronitt – Lakeland (x:9.3, y:13.2)
  • Purchased from Mizutt for 8 Hammered Frogments
  • Pre-requisite:
    • Reach Bloodsworn Reputation (rank 8) with the Dwarves
  • NPC Location: Ronitt – Lakeland (x:9.3, y:13.2)
  • Reach Bloodsworn Reputation (rank 8) with the Dwarves

The Lali Hop can be purchased from Mizutt in Lakeland after reaching Bloodsworn rank with the Dwarves. After filling up the reputation bar at rank 7, you will be able to undertake the quest ‘Tanks for the Memory’. Completing this quest will add additional stock to Mizutt’s inventory, including the Lali Hop dance, which can be purchased for 8 Hammered Frogments. These are obtained from completing Dwarf daily Beast Tribe Quests.

Gold Saucer Dances

The three following dance emotes can be purchased for MGP from the Gold Saucer. They each cost 80,000 MGP, which can take a while to get if you’re starting from scratch. Luckily, there are a few ways you can increase your MGP gains and acquire these exclusive dances.
