For the first time in Genshin Impact’s history, we have two limited-time character banners running simultaneously. Eula and Albedo are now available as re-run banners with Bennett, Rosaria, and Noelle as the four-stars on both. So, if you have to make the choice, which character is the best?

We take a look at how Eula and Albedo match up against each other in terms of abilities, playstyles, ease of leveling, and the roles they can play in your party.

Albedo Vs Eula: Visions, Weapons, And Elemental Skills

Albedo and Eula have different Visions and use different weapons, although both are melee-focused. As with all Genshin characters they also have unique elemental skills. Here’s what each character can offer:

Albedo’s Vision, Elemental Skills, And Weapon Type

Albedo has a Geo Vision and is a sword user. As you’d expect, his normal attack comprises of up to five rapid strikes, with a charged and plunging variant. His charged attack costs a set amount of stamina and comprises two rapid strikes, while his plunging attack deals AoE upon impact.

His elemental skill is called Solar Isotoma and deals AoE damage. When enemies within the field take damage this generates Transient Blossoms once every two seconds. These deal AoE geo damage that scales with Albedo’s defense stat. If a character stays at the locus point of the field it will generate a crystallized platform that lifts them up for a limited time. If you hold the skill button you can choose where to place the Solar Isotoma.

Albedo’s elemental burst is called Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide and deals AoE geo damage in front of him. If his Solar Isotoma is in place when this burst is used then seven Fatal Blossoms will generate in the Isotoma field before exploding to deal extra AoE geo damage. Tectonic Tide and Fatal Blossoms don’t generate Transient Blossoms.

Eula’s Vision, Elemental Skills, And Weapon Type

Eula has a Cryo Vision and is a claymore user. As with Albedo, her normal attack comprises of up to five strikes, and she has a charged and plunging variant. The difference is that her charged attack drains stamina to perform a series of continuous slashes, ending with a more powerful one. Eula’s plunged attack is standard, dealing AoE damage upon impact.

Her elemental skill is called Icetide Vortex and it slashes swiftly, dealing cryo damage to opponents. Upon hitting an enemy with the skill, Eula gains stacks of Grimheart, which increases her resistance to interruption as well as her defense. She can have a maximum of two and they can be gained every 0.3 seconds. Upon holding the skill button, Eula will consume any Grimheart stacks and lash forward, dealing AoE damage. Each Grimheart stack decreases the physical and cryo resistance of enemies in the area. The stacks are also converted into an Icewhirl Brand which deals extra cryo damage.

Eula’s elemental burst is known as Glacial Illumination and involves her brandishing her greatsword to deal cryo damage in front of her. It also creates a Lightfall Sword that increases her resistance to interruption. The Lightfall Sword lasts for up to seven seconds and is charged by Eula’s normal and elemental attacks. It gains energy stacks every 0.1 seconds until the duration ends. At this point it explodes, dealing physical damage that scales with the number of energy stacks.

Albedo Vs Eula: Utility Passive Talents

Passive talents are often overlooked but can make a big difference. Here’s what both characters can offer:

Albedo’s Passive Talent

Albedo gives you a ten percent chance to receive double the product when crafting weapon ascension materials. This means that you can quite drastically reduce the number of materials you need to ascend weapons for any of your characters. Depending on your luck, it can reduce the grind by a noticeable amount.

Eula’s Passive Talent

Eula has a similar talent as she has a ten percent chance to receive double the product when crafting talent ascension materials. Once again, this can reduce the material grind significantly. Passive talents that generate extra items are always helpful to have.

Albedo Vs Eula: Builds

When it comes to character builds, a large number of the materials you need to grind are similarly difficult to get your hands on. Anything that comes from a domain, such as talent ascension materials and artifacts, is pretty much the same. You can adjust the domain level to fit your character level and away you go.

With both characters being Mondstadt-based, the domain you’ll want for talent materials is even identical. Head over to Dragonspine and enter the Forsaken Rift to find Albedo’s talent materials on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Eula’s can be found on Tuesdays and Fridays. Both are available on Sundays.

The same is true when it comes to weapons. You’ll still be playing the wish system, or maybe hunting down similar crafting materials, regardless of your choice of character. The differences come when we start to look at the common materials required and which weekly bosses you’ll need to fight.

Eula’s Ascension Materials

Eula’s ascension will require

• Shivada Jade – Drops from Cryo Regisvine, Cryo Hypostasis, Primo Geovishap, Maguu Kenki, Wolf of North, Perpetual Mechanical Array.
• Crystalline Blooms – Drops from Level 30+ Cryo Hypostasis.
• Dandelion Seeds – Commonly found in Mondstadt.
• Hilichurl Masks – Drops from Hilichurls.

You’ll also need Dragon Lord’s Crowns from the Beneath the Dragon-Queller Trounce Domain in Nantianmen, Liyue for her later talents.

Albedo’s Ascension Materials

Albedo’s ascension will require

• Prithiva Topaz – Drops from Geo Hypostasis, Wolf of the North, Primo Geovishap.
• Basalt Pillars – Drops from Level 30+ Geo Hypostasis.
• Cecilias – Commonly found around Starsnatch Cliff in Mondstadt.
• Samachurl Scrolls – Drops from Samachurls.

You’ll also need Tusks of Monoceros Caeli from Childe in the Enter The Golden House Trounce Domain in Sea of Clouds, Liyue for his later talents.

Albedo Vs Eula: Party Roles

Albedo is a very strong character best utilized as support DPS. The reason for this is that he has a low damage multiplier on his regular attack. However, he can provide incredibly powerful burst support through his elemental skills. This increases hugely if you stack his defense stat. You’ll also want to keep his health high, as his damage is increased when it’s above 50 percent. He’s best brought into battle to fire off his elemental attacks and take down groups of enemies that risk swamping you with his powerful AoE.

Eula is an incredibly powerful lead DPS, one of the strongest in the game. She brings huge amounts of physical damage alongside her cryo attacks. If you build up her physical damage and attack speed she is a powerhouse on the battlefield. While her damage is mainly single-target, she can also provide steady AoE alongside her focused attacks. She’s best used as a lead DPS and with the right team composition, is incredibly difficult to beat.

The choice will ultimately depend on the role you want to fill on your team, as well as its composition. However, with this information, you can now pull on the banner that suits your needs.
