It’s official, Ghost of Tsushima players now have the chance to wear outfits inspired by PlayStation classic titles, including God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and more. It represents a unique opportunity to pay homage to PlayStation originals, like God of War, and to look to the future with more recent titles.

Set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274, Ghost of Tsushima has earned rave reviews since it released over the summer. The PS4 exclusive recently won the Player’s Voice Award at this year’s Game Awards. There was major competition from a PlayStation-stacked lineup, including The Last of Us Part II. Players assume the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai on the path to vengeance as he sets out to stop the Mongolian raids being led by fictional adversary Khotun Khan in 13th-century Japan. The game has received positive reviews since it was first announced at E3 back in 2018. Fans appreciate the emphasis that is placed on stealth, smooth game mechanics, visually stunning landscapes and the vibrant plot that offers a glimpse into ancient Feudal Japan. There are even ongoing talks of a sequel already being in development over at Sucker Punch Productions.

According to the official Twitter account of Ghost of Tsushima, the four new costumes are available to use in the multiplayer Legends mode. In order to collect every custom outfit, players need to complete any story or survival mission using each of the four separate classes before January 15. If they manage to do just that, all of the outfits will be added to the player’s wardrobe.

From now until January 15, 2021, unlock these #GhostOfTsushima: Legends outfits inspired by iconic PlayStation characters from God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Colossus and Bloodborne! In a unique move compared to previous PlayStation franchises, Sucker Punch Productions planned from the very start to incorporate a multiplayer component into Ghost of Tsushima. The free cooperative multiplayer, named Legends, was added to the base game in mid-October alongside new cosmetics and gameplay changes. The multiplayer has been well received by fans as it explores Japanese mythology and pits players against each other in class-ranked challenges. There are a total of four different classes, all of which offer distinctive benefits based on certain playstyles. Players who are interested in open combat might prefer the Samurai class. Others who appreciate a quiet approach will probably opt for the Assassin class. The hunter class is ideal for players interested in long-ranged abilities. Lastly, the Ronin class is advantageous because of its ability to heal teammates.

As PlayStation continues to evolve with its latest console release and PS5 exclusive titles in the future, it is nice to see that Sucker Punch Studios wants to pay tribute to the high-flying games of the past that have made PlayStation what it is today. It is a mixture of the old and the new, existing simultaneously in Ghost of Tsushima.
