Gillette Venus has teamed up with Animal Crossing: New Horizons to launch their brand new “Skinclusive Summer Line,” a collection of exclusive codes that bring skin diversity to the virtual world.
As part of their “My Skin, My Way” campaign, which celebrates women’s rights to feel beautiful in her own skin, Gillette Venus has launched the Skinclusive Summer Line. This exclusive summer line allows women the chance to see their IRL selves properly represented in the world of Animal Crossing.
Working with video game digital designer Nicole Cuddihy, Gillette Venus launched a line that includes 19 different skin types, created for the 8 in-game skin tones, and more than 250 designs of different skin realities. From acne, cellulite, curves, freckles, stretch marks, scars, eczema, burns, prosthetics, and more, Animal Crossing players now have the chance to fully transform their avatars to look exactly like their real selves.
“While momentum for diversity in design is building, there are many areas where progress feels slow,” Cuddihy says in the Skinclusive Summer Line’s lookbook, “Why can I add scars and wrinkles to elven warriors or outlaws, but not to characters in less combat-driven games? This lookbook aims to counter those conventions.”
To celebrate the launch, Gillette Venus has launched an adorable commercial showing off some of the different skins and how they look in the game.
Those who are interested in using the codes in their own Animal Crossing: New Horizons playthroughs can check out Gillette Venus’s 36-page lookbook, filled with codes, images showing the designs in action, and a plethora of tips, trivia, and other tidbits from the designers.
To celebrate the launch, Gillette will be hosting a special in-game event on August 31 at 7 PM EST on YouTube Live. The “socially distant summer event” will be hosted by a surprise celebrity guest and feature exclusive discussions and panels on diversity and fashion.
