Season 1 is told almost entirely through the perspective of the main female characters on the show. There is a clear female perspective that Grey’s has that makes it the extremely special show it is.

With so many smart women competing and cooperating, the first season of Grey’s brought to television a whole different paradigm of the female perspective.

5 The Cast

Ellen Pompeo is currently the highest-paid female actress on television and she has been the central character Grey’s has revolved around from the very first season.

The cast in the first season also included T.R Knight, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Kate Burton. They were a talented lot who really lived these roles.

2 The Interns

No other set of interns have invoked such love and affection from fans, as the first set of interns introduced on season 1. Grey’s has tried time and again to introduce a similar cohort, but never have fans taken to any set as a whole the same way they did with the interns from season 1.

George, Izzie, Cristina, Meredith, and Alex were the dream team. With Bailey as their leader, the interns made even routine work look extremely interesting.

1 The Twist At The End

Addison’s arrival at the end of season 1 was incredible. It was a twist that was totally unexpected. But it was not a high stakes, life or death situation. The cliff hanger that season 1 ended on was amazing because of this. It was on a small-scale, but drastically affected the characters on the show and that’s why the ending of season 1 was ideal.

Season 1 really utilized the hospital setting and the hectic lives of medical professionals and centered the show on that premise. And so, the ending of the show also was an interesting way to disrupt the calmness.
