Trapped in the backyard of the suburbs, players will choose which character to play as they offer unique stats that each gives an edge for the beginning of the game. Although there is a story-mode that players can complete solo, there is also a co-operative mode that players can utilize and use teamwork to overcome obstacles. As the game progresses, the difficulty will subtly increase and the map will become more dangerous. There’s even an option in the game where players can customize how scary the spiders can be. There are various insects in this game that players will need to battle to secure sections of the map and obtain important resources, as well. Gnats are especially useful for cooking up as a tasty meal when low on energy, for example.
Like any other survival game, there is a multitude of resources to collect and utilize. Ladybugs will lead players to special areas with goods, predators will hunt the characters down and some bugs can be cooked for food. There is a day and night cycle in Grounded that can affect the gameplay. In particular, the insects will become stronger and more aggressive, and finding resources will become more of a chore. Hence, bases will be a target during nighttime, and keeping on top of the upkeep of bases can sometimes be a nuisance. Players will need to cut down blades of grass for nutrition and crafting items, thus they will need to dig up construction material to erect a base for safety. Base Building Tips for Grounded
There are endless ways to build a base in Grounded and its limits are only tethered to the player’s imagination. The basic formula of getting a base started is pretty much the same as any other survival game. One thing that players need to keep in mind is that there are enemies all over the map that will attack the base at a constant rate, especially at night. This is the first thing that should be sorted out. Make sure that the area is clear with any apex predators and don’t build near an anthill. So, the first thing that should be done is selecting an area that’s at least somewhat safe. Take some time and scout the map and see what’s out there. It’s advised that building a base near the “Mysterious Machine” since it’s far away from spiders and rich with resources. The first two tools to make is the ax and hammer. This will help gather to two most essential materials for base-building; Grass Planks and Weed Stems.
Base Building Tips
- Under the “Craft” menu, there will be a sub-menu called “Base Building”. There is where players will need to go to find recipes for crafting materials.
- Collect sap and find an analyzer to unlock the ‘workbench’. This will help with crafting more advanced items for the future advancement of base-building.
- Players can build walls without a floor and vice versa. The building mechanics are pretty flexible in this game. Players will see that various points of the base that’s under construction will “Glow Blue”. This means they still need more materials to finish being built. - Build a ‘Lean-To’ right next to the base that’s being worked on so players can have a decent starting point when respawning.
