The remastered GTA Trilogy will need just 25GB of storage space on Nintendo Switch, 45GB on PC, and a whopping 49GB of room available on Xbox One and Series X|S.

Rockstar has masterfully made us all forget about GTA 6 by announcing a remastered collection of some of its most iconic GTA games. Remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas will be bundled together and sold as The Definitive Edition digitally starting from November 11. Physical copies of the game will hit the market on December 7.

Side-by-side screenshots of the games show off just how good the remastered versions look compared to the originals, although some people still aren’t happy. That might have resulted in some assuming they will need to clear out a significant chunk of storage space for when they arrive. That doesn’t appear to be the case. Well, at least not on Nintendo Switch.

According to the trilogy’s eshop listing, the collection will only occupy 25.4GB of storage space. We say only, that’s actually a heck of a lot of room for a Switch game. It is technically three games though. Plus, on any other platform, 25.4GB is barely anything at all. For comparison, GTA 5 currently needs about four times as much free space.

The trouble is, the size of the trilogy appears to be quite a bit more on other platforms. 45GB on PC according to Rockstar, and a little more again at 49GB on Xbox. While not yet confirmed, it stands to reason that PlayStation’s requirements will be almost the same, if not identical to the ones for Xbox. When it comes to why you’ll need almost twice as much storage space on Xbox for the trilogy than you will do on Switch, well, that remains unclear.

It’s possible that the Switch version of the game won’t be as good or detailed as the Xbox one. If that is the case, Rockstar is keeping incredibly quiet about it. Understandably so as that will not sit well with those excited about playing the games on the go. It has already been revealed that the physical version of the game will need to be partially downloaded on Switch, but the size highlighted on the eshop pertains to the digital version.
