It seems that a hacker has taken over the Playlists section of Apex Legends with a message to save Titanfall. Players may see ‘Save Titanfall’ messages in a number of places in the game.
Titanfall has been unplayable for a while now thanks to a group of racist hackers who have turned the lobbies into a slur-filled place and left it almost unplayable. What’s more, these hackers have also been using exploits and cheats to decimate anyone who wants to genuinely play the game. EA and Respawn have not addressed this issue for a while now.
The messages appearing on Apex Legends implore players to ‘save Titanfall’ by visiting a website and spreading the word. “Titanfall 1 is currently unplayable on PC due to hacker(s) using exploits that prevents [sic] players from being able to play the game,” reads the description. “This issue has been happening for years and Respawn is willingly pretending that they do not know about the situation. To this day, Titanfall 1 is still on sale on the [sic] Origin, and more recently Steam, even though it is unplayable. Respawn, the developers, have been contacted about this matter numerous times in many ways.”
As pointed out by alphaINTEL on Twitter, the message can be seen in the playlists section of the game, as well as during a post-match pop up. It asks players to head to the website for more information, and even claims that Apex Legends is in danger of this “attack”.
Titanfall fans have been imploring EA and Respawn to do something about this issue via a megathread on Reddit among others. It also breaks down the issue into simpler terms for everyone to understand. It seems that Titanfall’s servers were riddled with vulnerabilities that remained unattended for a long time. This prompted hackers to fill up the servers with bots, preventing anyone who wanted to play from joining. EA and Respawn launched the game on Steam and didn’t even address the issue.
The ‘save Titanfall’ website has branded itself ‘Operation Red Tape’ and is on a mission to get the developers to do something about the issue. It lists out the problems in a detailed manner, and even goes into how the hacker(s) have been managing to keep the game unplayable for so long.
