The devs also announced that each battle pass will have exclusive rewards, which won’t be purchasable through Halo Infinite’s in-game store.
As far as free-to-play multiplayer microtransactions go, the Halo Infinite battle pass system seems among the best, and least controversial. With no pay-to-win features, players should be ecstatic at a free-to-play Halo multiplayer. Though there is a pay-to-skin system, it seems tailored to fans of the franchise, allowing for in-depth Spartan customization and unlockable rewards exclusive to the battle pass. This will make it more rewarding when certain skin customizations are unlocked, since other players can’t simply purchase them from the store.
In the video, the devs also announced that certain skins and rewards will be entirely free, earned strictly through gameplay. The dev team also pointed out that since Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is available on both Xbox and PC for free, the game will have the largest audience with the smallest barrier to entry of the Halo franchise. The game will also have cross-progression, which lets players take their rewards from one system to the next. The rewards will constantly change, as the devs release new seasons each with its own theme. Collecting all possible rewards will be a challenge for the greatest Spartans out there.
