Greydwarves hold onto several precious and unique resources in Valheim, making them well worth hunting down. These strange creatures look as if they have grown out of the abandoned tree stumps throughout the landscape. Players should be careful of them, especially while out getting lumber.

These nasty little hostile monsters are the adult form of Greylings. They can be found just about anywhere but do have specific spawning areas. Players will need to watch their backs when going out Greydwarf hunting, and keep a weapon on them.

How to Hunt Greydwarves in Valheim

Greydwarves are especially nasty creatures as they will often attack in groups. This can make them incredibly annoying or scary to face off if the player is still new to the area or hasn’t leveled up much at all. However, the resources they can drop sweeten the deal of going out and looking for them. Resources that Greydwarves drop are things like stones, resin, wood, and/or a Greydwarf eye. The eye is the most useful and rare of the items that it drops as these are needed to craft a portal and to summon the bosses throughout the game. Making them a rather useful nuisance.

All Greydwarves will spawn out in the Black Forest. Particularly, out of the nest-like objects within the Black Forest. Players can wait around the nests for more to keep appearing and take out as many as possible, or quickly farm as many as necessary before destroying the nest. The main thing to remember is that they will not continue to spawn if their nest is destroyed. This means, that unless the player is sure that they will not need more of their materials they shouldn’t destroy the nests. Instead, players should hunt off their fill and head off before more spawn.

Players should also keep in mind that the creatures not only have a melee attack but can also pick rocks up off of the ground and chuck them at the player to hurt them. Timing is everything when it comes to falling back to the player’s base. Luckily, if the player is followed, there is a way to spook the creatures off. Greydwarves are terrified of fire. So players should make sure to use torches around their residence or keep close to a campfire when trying to keep away from the evil little spirits.
