With the first Xenoblade Chronicles installment making a return in the form of a spruced-up remaster with overhauled visuals, audio, and refined gameplay, many wills enthralled with learning the ins and outs of the game’s mechanics. Among these include Arts, which are special abilities tied exclusively to each party member.

And one burning question that newcomers may have is how to get new Arts. From the base level, each character has a default set of Arts, though with increased character levels comes additional Arts that can be learned over time. However, while more Arts can be attained by simply leveling up, there are also skill books that can be purchased that will teach your party members various Arts. You can also find skill books in numerous chests.

Since Arts are important to players’ survival and prowess in combat, it’s important to stop by shops that sell skill books. Usually, these books will run you a few thousand units of Gold and are crucial to building diverse talents for each of the party members.

In order to use the skill books, one must bring them up in the game’s menu and select the prompt to learn the Art from the book. While the majority of the game’s Arts are limited in terms of how far you can upgrade them, their level caps can be increased, allowing more skill books to still grant Art enhancements to players.

And, as mentioned previously, these Arts will be crucial to players’ victories in battle throughout the events of Xenoblade Chronicles. From powerful physical Arts, like Shulk’s Back Slash and Air Slash to more restorative healing Arts like Sharla’s Heal Round, Xenoblade Chronicles is full of a diverse set of Arts that can equip the player with the necessary skills to take down enemies with relative ease.

However, if you are finding that having upgraded Arts is making the game too easy for you, it is possible to turn on the game’s Expert Mode, which reduces the amount of XP you collect and makes battles more challenging. Yet, as the game is fairly difficult as it is, it would be recommended that you start at the game’s default difficulty.
