How to Open Vaulthalla Secret Room in Borderlands 3 (Psycho Krieg DLC)

The Borderlands 3 DLC Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck has finally released, taking the player through the titular character’s twisted consciousness in search of a secret that can induce madness. Before, during, and after the player’s fight with the DLC’s final boss, Psychoreaver, there is a puzzle for them to complete that will result in more chests and loot than they will likely know what to do with. Solving this puzzle will grant the player access to Vaulthalla, and, if the player completes the puzzle all the way through, they can earn the Ye Who Enter Trophy for Borderlands 3.

To solve the puzzle and enter Vaulthalla, the player will need to shoot several yellow switches in the room just before the Psychoreaver boss fight, in the same room as the fight, and in the room following the fight. This final area is timed. They will also need to shoot a second set of yellow switches to open the secret inner room of Vaulthalla and unlock the Trophy achievement. Players will need to hit 24 total switches to complete the puzzle, but some of these can be difficult to locate, especially on a timer. Players should note that active switches will turn green, which should help them keep track. Here’s how to find all the switches, open the secret Vaulthalla room, and earn the Ye Who Enter Achievement in Borderlands 3.

Prior to the boss fight with Psychoreaver, players will need to find and shoot six yellow switches. They will find three in the room with the skeleton that wears a crown and three in the Lesionhall.

Players can hit the next three before, during, or after the fight with Psychoreaver, as all three are located within the arena. As a hint, when the player enters the arena, one switch will be located on each side of them near the platform. The last one is located above the platform, accessed once the player steps into the arena. When Psychoreaver has been defeated and the portal opens, the player needs to make sure to have hit all three switches before going through it.

Through the portal, the player enters another room, the Trove of the Despoiler, and encounters a timer for sixty seconds. They only have this long to find all three of the switches in this new location. The timer will begin when the player moves to the first launchpad. Two of the switches in this room are fairly easy to spot, but one is located beneath a hollow part of the floor.

To reach all three in the time limit, players should use the first launchpad, then turn left and use that launchpad to reach the platform with the stairs. The player needs to travel up the stairs and to another launchpad. The first switch is on the next platform, embedded in the floor tiles. Next to this, the player should see a pile of gold with some chests resting on it. This is where the switch under the floor is located. To get to it, the player will need to punch the floor next to the pile of gold several times. When the tile breaks, they’ll see the yellow switch inside.

Players should travel in the direction of that yellow switch and use the launchpad there to reach one final platform, where they will find another yellow switch on a large box resting in another pile of gold. They can then travel to the top of the Trove of the Despoiler and go through the archway to find another switch, which will open the gate to Vaulthalla and end the timed section.

While there are some chests located in the main Vaulthalla area, players can find more and unlock their Trophy if they can find the 12 remaining, far smaller yellow switches. These are difficult to spot, so players may want to follow a tutorial like the one below to find them all.

Thankfully, there is no timer on this one, and players can look around to make sure they’ve hit every switch. At that point, the secret room will open, and they will have access to multiple chests. This will earn them the Ye Who Enter Trophy.

Players can repeat this puzzle multiple times to re-enter the secret room whenever they need more loot, as new items will spawn in the area for the next time.
