Doki Doki Literature Club Plus has released for both PC and consoles. While the original encouraged players to poke around their own computers, the remaster streamlines this with an in-game OS that has its own hidden secrets. Most of these are simply Easter eggs, but some also add lore and a fresh spin.

As players build up their collection of images and music, they will eventually be contacted by the Metaverse Enterprise Solutions (MES) admins. This will come in the form of e-mail messages that shed light on what is happening to the DDLC program. Certain messages will also unlock features of their own.

Unlocking New Mail in Doki Doki Literature Club Plus

E-mails are granted as data like music and art are acquired. Hidden files do not count towards the percentage unless they yield other rewards. The quickest method is to simply beat the main game and Side Stories, which will easily raise data to around 60%. However, some tasks can be tricky and require a little planning.

Multiple Playthroughs

Players will need to go through DDLC at least twice: once for each of the two ending letters. During one playthrough certain poems will need to be written: a poem for a different girl each day, and also sets of poems that Natsuki and Yuri are indifferent about.

One will also want to interact with Monika differently, either quickly deleting her or letting her monologue during Act 3. Also, the special poems are purely random each playthrough and one will need to completely restart a new game to earn different ones.

Natsuki Route

During Act 2, players will want to write two poems that Natsuki loves. When talking to her during day three she will get angry at the main character and Yuri, and rush the screen. This is the only way to get one of the sketches of Natsuki.

Weekend with Yuri

During the end of Act 2, players will be stuck at school with Yuri. While it is tempting to simply hit skip, staying the whole time will grant a special promo image. To make it go faster, players can either attempt to reload, or quit out of DDLC entirely. Either will make time pass in-game.

Just Monika

There are several activates to accomplish during Act 3. First, players should be sure to play the broken poem mini-game, as well as read Monika’s poem. To get the remaining art listen to 15 of Monika’s topics and attempt to use skip.

Hidden Music

After entering Act 2, players will want to add the track Candy Hearts to a playlist and listen to it for its full 2:55 duration. It will then disappear from the playlist and shrink to 1:07. Playing this fully will unlock a distorted creepy 0:59 version.

Ghost Intro

A spooky black and white DDLC intro can be seen starting up the VM during Act 2. Getting this is purely random with an extremely low percentage. Players will simply need to reload over and over until they view it.

New e-mails will arrive at certain data levels, though it isn’t exact and may be a few percentage levels lower or higher. There in an element of time travel: older messages have progressed MES’ project further. If some of the mail does not come in, players will want to make sure their game is fully patched as there were some bugs with the shipped game.

  • Character Discrepancy (~70% data)

December 7, 2019 Lib Musi will send a new e-mail regarding the main character of the DDLC virtual machine. It would appear to be an anomaly created by Monika and not part of the test they are running. Lib will also send an unused sketch of the main character for the player’s gallery.

  • OMG (~75% data)

December 6, 2019 Ive will send a new message regarding Monika’s Twitter account (@lilmonik3). He wants to know if someone else on the team is writing the tweets or if it is automated to pull info from Monika (and if so it must be the control simulation or she surely would be screaming). Either way, he is convinced that the account will be 404’d, which is a clue to some of the secrets folder locations.

  • Staying Focused on Our Goals (~80% data)

December 5, 2019 Paula Miner will send an analysis on the data gathered so far. She wants to examine how the elevated access virtual machine is effecting users’ emotions and values. December 3, 2019 Ravi Raso will inform the team that VM2’s data is not being zeroed out, allowing VM1 access to it. This likely is what allows Monika to easily pull elements from that world.

  • Binary Data in VM2 (~95% data)

December 2, 2019 Ro Teether will explain that they are close to having a good connection to VM2. However, it will take another three days so in the meantime it is best to focus on more data from DDLC.
