During a recent interview with Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmel told the actor he had gotten Affleck’s The Tender Bar co-star, Daniel Ranieri, a PlayStation 5, but forgot to get him some games. Given the high demand for the PS5, Kimmel’s efforts should be applauded, but Ranieri had some choice words for the talk show host. After all, a PS5 is not much better than a PS4 if the player doesn’t have any of the hot new games to play with it.

The console has been a notoriously difficult item to attain over the last year. As of recently, Amazon teased a PS5 restock, but it is likely futile for most people. It will be one of the most in-demand items for the holiday season and given Sony hasn’t been able to match demand due to shortages, it’s going to be a herculean task to get one. The PS5 is expected to be more readily available in 2022, but only time will tell how easy it is to acquire.

Still, that didn’t stop Jimmy Kimmel. The talk show host was telling Ben Affleck that he had gotten his co-star, Daniel Ranieri, a PS5 after searching high and low, but forgot to buy him any games. In response, The Tender Bar director George Clooney recorded a video of a frustrated Ranieri on set. The nine-year-old actor cursed Kimmel out, saying “Jimmy Kimmel fu–ed me again, he didn’t get me any games. What the f–k am I supposed to do with a PlayStation without any games?” Clooney chimed in with an additional “What the f–k?”

With every restock, the PS5 has sold out almost instantly. Due to scalpers and generally high demand, it has been incredibly difficult to secure the console. Thankfully, there’s only a handful of games that are only available on PS5 right now. That will change in 2022 but more games will likely be struggling or held back on PS4 as time goes on. Although a lot of compromises are being made, it’s unlikely the console will get as significant support in 2023.

Nevertheless, the charming video is a more extreme version of something a lot of gamers have likely suffered on Christmas day in the past. Kimmel noted that Ranieri will appear in person on his show later in the week, so perhaps the comedian will right his wrongs and give the child star some new PS5 games or other gaming goodies. Either way, the actor is quite lucky as Sony missed its production targets for the PlayStation 5, meaning there will be a lot of hopeful gamers that won’t be able to get their hands on the platform holder’s new console.
