Key & Peele exploded onto TV and the internet back in 2012 when the world truly needed a new sketch show. With the void which Chappelle Show left in the hearts of its fans, the arrival of Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael Key was welcomed by fans of sketch comedy.

Key & Peele, during its five-season run, captured the hearts and tickled the funny-bones of its fans, with many a line still being quoted today between friends at parties and gatherings. Over the show’s run, there have been plenty of memorable, funny, and highly-quotable lines that many still use today, and here are ten of the best for your nostalgic pleasure.

10 Liam Neesons Is My Jam!

Tywon Lannisters, Ned Starks, and the Kalisis is another stellar quote from these two characters. The valet character sketch sees two overenthusiastic characters who constantly get into nerd rants, which are surprisingly relatable albeit sent up in the most-hardcore Key and Peele style. The sketch was met with so much love that it led to a promo for Liam Neeson’s action romp Non-Stop, which was released at the time.

9 You Done Messed Up A-ARON!

Substitute Teacher is one of those Key & Peele sketches that everyone has seen. You don’t need to be a hardcore fan of Key & Peele—in fact, many people have seen this sketch solely because their Key & Peele fanatic friends have shown it to them.

It sees Keegan Michael Key play a substitute teacher who has some hilarious trouble pronouncing his students’ names. It’s one of those classic Key & Peele sketches that is permanently ingrained in everyone’s memories, often quoted when fans meet unsuspecting Aarons.

In what’s easily one of the most repeated lines from Key & Peele, “Put dat p*ssy on the chain-wax” is a phrase that a couple of friends argue whether is a thing or not.

It really shouldn’t be, as it really makes no sense in the scene’s context, as the characters are reminiscing about a fight that Key’s character got into the night before. It’s still repeated by many today, even though it probably shouldn’t be.

Gone are the days when referring to a female as the b-word is okay unless you’re a gangster rapper from the 90s. It’s why Key & Peele had so much fun making this sketch, and it’s evident from how well the two comedic geniuses act it. It’s controversial, but the two comedians play it safe by exploring the ridiculous idea of how men probably should use the word, completely out of earshot and in a tree.

6 Insubordinate and Churlish!

Substitute Teacher features more than one classic Key & Peele line. In fact, it features several. After A-aron is sent to O Shag Hennesy’s office, the substitute teacher refers to him as “Insubordinate and Churlish,” which, in classic Key & Peele style is utterly ridiculous, because the same teacher has trouble pronouncing these common English American names. This type of tongue in cheek humor makes the sketch all that more rewatchable and these quotable.

5 Slap Ass!

In a sketch where Key & Peele are clearly poking fun at locker room antics, a group of Hispanic baseball players enter the locker room after a game to be met by an over-enthusiastic player, who seems to love his game of “Slap Ass” too much. The hilarity is taken to the next level when Rafi, played by Jordan Peele, states that” it’s what baseball players do”

We hit home runs, and we slap asses.” Perhaps much to the dismay of high school locker rooms across America, we imagine that younger viewers of this show have taken to quoting this scene a tad bit too much. “Low-key drug deal” is another one of those Key & Peele sketches which takes a comedic idea, this time playing on the exact opposite of what should do when engaged in a deal. The sketch reaches that absurdity level that only Key & Peele can when the dealer utters, “High five and say drugs!” It’s funny, rewatchable, and highly quotable.

3 These Nuts!

The term “these nuts” or “deez nuts” has since the 90s been an insult flung by teen males, rappers, and the USA even saw a candidate run for office under the name. Key & Peele would not be the show it is if it didn’t address the idea of “that one guy” who still says it. Jordan Peele’s recurring character Wendell is a constant source of cringe-worthy, awkward humor, and the larger than life pizza-loving man has some of the most memorable lines. In “Pizza Order,” Wendell orders a substantial amount of cheesy-crust pizza for himself and his “friends” at a party.

Of course, the viewers know that his order is all for himself, as he’s clearly alone at home. When he takes his ruse too far, the Marios employee becomes a tad bit too interested in one Claire. In an effort to throw off the employee, Wendell quickly states “yep, I hit that; sexually.” It’s another one-liner of pure genius which is repeated far too often, we imagine, in dorm rooms and fraternities across America.

Within the first thirteen seconds of “Prepared For Terries,” viewers know that they’re in for another ridiculous sketch when Jordan Peele appears with the most outlandish facial hair. It’s not long before it gets even more outrageous as Key’s character appears with an equally ridiculous look.
