An ongoing ballot has revealed Waluigi is far and away the character Smash players want added to the roster more than any other.

A poll that has amassed 18,000 votes and counting has revealed Waluigi to be Smash fans’ most desired character, with Heavy and Rayman following close behind.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate boasts the biggest roster in the franchise’s history, and it still isn’t done growing. Nintendo still has (at least) five more Challenger Packs to reveal. The possibilities of who might be in those five packs are almost endless. However, if previous Smash DLC reveals are anything to go by, fans might well be left disappointed.
That’s probably unfair of us to say. Not every DLC reveal since the release of Ultimate has been a disappointment. Banjo & Kazooie was a very welcome surprise since the characters are owned by Microsoft. Persona’s Joker was also a cool addition, and the inclusion of an ARMS character also makes a lot of sense.
All of that being said, Nintendo clearly isn’t listening to Smash players or is choosing to ignore them. A poll run by The Ballot Man is closing in on 20,000 votes cast, and as of right now, Waluigi is leading the way with 1667 votes. This won’t come as a surprise to most Smash players as many have been lobbying for Waluigi to be added to the franchise as a playable character since Brawl.
Waluigi currently has a commanding lead that he probably won’t relent. However, the chasing pack makes for an interesting group. In second place, up from fourth, is Team Fortress 2’s Heavy. Right after that is Rayman who was in second until Heavy’s recent surge up the chart. Rayman is another character who has been high on Smash players’ wishlists for a while but has never managed to rise higher than the role of trophy.
The list currently includes 29 different options, some of which are more realistic than others. The probability of Shadow or Tails joining the battle is high since Sonic has been a part of the roster since Brawl. However, Ratchet & Clank, who have slipped out of the top 29 at the time of typing this, are PlayStation IP making it very unlikely they will ever be a part of the Smash roster.
