With roughly a week left on Love Island season 3, the remaining players are making a stretch run for the $100,000 grand prize. One of the fascinating aspects about the reality dating show is that, whether a contestant deserves to win or not, they can make a strong push all the way to the end by using strategic gameplay and making methodical moves to give them an advantage. However, as the rules stipulate, if a player isn’t pursuing true love, they do not deserve to stay on Love Island.

While some of the contestants this season have genuinely earned the right to compete for the championship, others have tricked, connived, dodged, and somehow lucked their way one step closer to the winner’s circle despite making a meaningful relationship.

9 Stayed Too Long: Korey

Love Island Season 3 5 Players Who Stayed Too Long (& 4 Who Left Too Soon)

As kind-hearted and sweet-natured as Korey has proven to be, he simply spent far too much time alone and uncoupled to warrant his longevity on the show. Since Day 1, Korey has been a part of five couples in the villa and has never really been able to justify why they’ve failed to work out.

Paired with Kyra, Trina, Florita, Cashay, and most recently, Leslie, Korey’s only real romance was with Florita. However, even that fell apart when she chose Jeremy instead. Korey has impressively managed to stay alive by forging platonic friendships, but the name of the game is finding real love. With zero results in five attempts, Korey has overstayed his welcome and has been lucky to survive this long.

8 Stayed Too Long: Cinco

Cinco was finally evicted when the girls collectively voted him off the island in episode 25. A day-one entry, Cinco’s ambivalent love pentagon should have gotten him evicted much sooner. Fans wanted him to be upfront and choose either Trina or Cashay outright, as it wasn’t fair to leave the two wondering “what-if” the whole time.

Not only did the dramatic love triangle threaten the friendship between the two women, but he also created further drama by starting romances with Lei-Yen and Leslie. The drama may have helped liven up a few episodes initially, but fans did get tired of his indecisive nature and were ready for him to leave when he was eventually evicted.

7 Left Too Soon: Slade

One of the shortest stays in the villa belonged to Slade Parker – the tall and charming southern gent from Georgia, who seemed to have a good thing going with Olivia. Fans would have loved to see how their chemistry would have developed, especially since Olivia was in a platonic couple with Javonny and looking for something new.

Unfortunately, Slade’s time in the villa came to an abrupt halt when he willingly left the show, citing a family emergency as the main reason why. With only two days spent in the villa, Slade left far too soon, especially considering his early romantic prospects and the fact that his connection with Olivia could have led to them being one of the best Love Island couples. Maybe the Love Island producers will give him another shot?

6 Stayed Too Long: Jeremy

Many viewers are surprised that Jeremy has lasted this long on the guilty-pleasure dating show. The suave playboy had treated Trina with cruelty and dishonesty when they were paired early on and has somehow managed to partner with three additional girls in the villa since they broke up.

It goes without saying, this is rude, unsavory behavior that shouldn’t be rewarded with safety votes given the rules of Love Island. With excessive wanderlust and no sense of loyalty, Jeremy’s galavanting ways should have gotten him evicted long ago.

5 Left Too Soon: Javonny

As the fun-loving resident who always had a permanent smile on his face, Javonny was one of the best contestants on this popular reality dating show. As such, he should have lasted much longer than 17 days. In episode 19, even Shannon admitted the girls should have voted for Javonny to stay and dumped Jeremy instead.

Javonny’s infectious attitude and positive, thrill-seeking outlook increased the overall morale of the group. With such a great personality, fans would have loved to have seen Javonny find a real romance with the new girls who entered the villa just two days after his eviction.

4 Stayed Too Long: Trina

Sadly, after her relationship with Cinco fell through, Trina has failed to make an impact on fans. Since Trina has never made an attempt to get to know other boys in the villa, most viewers feel like her time at Casa Amor is up as she spent most of her stay holding a grudge against Cinco than finding another true match.

Even prior to that, Trina and Jeremy’s failed romance was followed by a poor match between her and Korey that went nowhere. The whole point of Love Island is finding true love and with Trina finding none, some viewers are wondering how she has managed to stay on the show for so long.

3 Left Too Soon: Florita

Popular contestant Florita spent nine days in the villa before the boys collectively voted her off the island along with Aimee. Considering her newfound mutual romance with Jeremy, Florita was a casualty of poor timing right when things were looking up.

It would have been nice for fans to see how Florita and Jeremy’s romantic rapport developed after coupling up and expressing their intense feelings for one another. Florita had to make the tough decision to leave Korey behind to be with Jeremy, yet her tough decision was rewarded with a swift elimination. Florita and Jeremy’s teary kiss goodbye in the rain proved she should have stayed longer, as it showed what an honest bond they two had and would have loved pursuing further.

2 Stayed Too Long: Olivia

Love Island Season 3 5 Players Who Stayed Too Long (& 4 Who Left Too Soon)

Somehow, Olivia has spent the entire duration of Love Island season 3 without making a single meaningful romantic connection. She was technically coupled with Javonny for 17 days, but their relationship was more or less platonic the whole time. Since Javonny’s eviction, Olivia has also been slammed for faking a romance with Korey to avoid elimination.

With Olivia narrowly avoiding the last three eliminations, it also seems like her time in the villa is coming to a close. Since she has failed to find a real romance since Day 1, it’s not surprising that some viewers believe Olivia has long overstayed her welcome.

1 Left Too Soon: Genevieve

As the only new girl to remain after the Casa Amor incident, Genevieve left the villa too soon. With her and Shannon contentious argument having provided the biggest drama in the house, fans would’ve loved to have seen their relationship play out over time.

However, while their dramatic fight strained the household dynamic, Genevieve seemed to have a good thing going with Jeremy, who was mutually smitten with her from the moment she entered the villa. Genevive was also attracted to Charlie, which would have created all sorts of entertaining drama between her and Cashay as well. In the end, the boys felt Genevieve was expendable compared to day one contestants Kyra and Trina and got dumped before her time was up.
