Pokémon come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, and their power levels also differ a lot from species to species. Some of them are definitely better suited to battle than others, and this can be seen when they face off against one another. But what about non-Pokémon opponents?

Marvel characters like Iron Man are also incredibly powerful, and he faces off against all kinds of different threats all the time. There are probably some Pokémon that can take him out regardless while others would definitely lose to him. Here are five Pokémon that could beat Iron Man in battle and five that Iron Man would definitely be victorious over.

10 Could: Beldum

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Beldum is a robotic Pokémon that seems to be made up mostly of magnets, which it uses to move around, communicate, and attack its opponents. This would likely give Iron Man a real run for his money, since Iron Man’s suit is literally made of metal. Plus, it can actually connect with other Beldums, since they’re all magnetic, in order to make it even harder to defeat it.

9 Couldn’t: Nihilego

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Nihilego is a Poison-Type Pokémon, and it has some powerful attacks because of that. Unfortunately, those attacks don’t really work on Steel-Type Pokémon, and Iron Man, while not a Pokémon, is definitely encased in actual metal, hence his name. This would likely protect him from Nihilego’s most dangerous attacks, and because of its low HP, Iron Man would probably be able to take it out pretty easily.

8 Could: Yveltal

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Yveltal is so powerful that it’s literally considered a god. Since it’s a Flying-Type Pokémon, it would be able to meet Iron Man in the air, which would just make it more dangerous.

Its attack range is very wide, so it would be difficult for Iron Man to avoid its attacks. Plus, it’s physically strong and difficult to damage. It would likely be able to actually knock Iron Man right out of the air before Iron Man could do any actual damage to it.

7 Couldn’t: Moltres

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Moltres is both a Fire and Flying-Type Pokémon, which make it pretty strong. But it’s also weak to something that Iron Man in particular excels at: electric attacks. Iron Man would be able to use the vast array of technology-based attacks that his suit has to take down Moltres without much effort at all.

He’d also be protected from Moltres’ fire-based attacks within the safety of his suit, which can account for and protect from fire.

6 Could: Scizor

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Scizor is an incredibly powerful Pokémon that only has one weakness, which is fire. While Iron Man could probably use this weakness to his advantage, if he found out what it was, he would also have to avoid Scizor’s powerful attacks in order to do so. The barbs on Scizor’s claws are incredibly sharp and can cut through concrete, which makes it seem likely that it could use them to cut through Iron Man’s suit.

5 Couldn’t: Guzzlord

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

It should probably be clear from Guzzlord’s name that it’s kind of a silly Pokémon species. It definitely seems like it should be strong, and on some level, it is. It’s really hard to damage Guzzlord because of its high HP, so in battle, it can handle a lot of attacks.

Its HP also gets stronger any time it knocks out a Pokémon that it’s fighting, but its attack levels are so low, it would be very hard to actually do this. Iron Man could probably chip away at its HP before it did any real damage to his suit.

4 Could: Rayquaza

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Rayquaza is one of the strongest Pokémon from Gen III, and it would definitely give Iron Man a run for its money. It’s incredibly strong, so it’s able to take out its enemies with really heavy blows. Plus, it has a lot of range, so it can be pretty much anywhere and still reach him. On top of that, it’s really hard to damage Rayquaza in battle; it has high HP and doesn’t take damage easily. Iron Man’s suit would probably take a lot of physical damage from Rayquaza before being able to really make a dent in its defense.

3 Couldn’t: Cresselia

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Cresselia is a really great defensive Pokémon so it would be difficult for Iron Man to actually damage it during battle. But this is pretty much the only thing Cresselia has going for it. Its attacks aren’t very strong, so it would have a hard time actually responding to Iron Man’s attacks during battle.

Iron Man might have to work to actually defeat it because its high HP, but he wouldn’t be taking any real damage in the process so could probably take his time.

2 Could: Mewtwo

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Mewtwo is generally considered to be the most powerful Pokémon out there. Its stats are incredible, making it very hard to actually damage in any way that matters. It can pretty much defeat any kind of Pokémon, regardless of type.

Plus, it has the ability to evolve, which means that it can become even stronger. Iron Man has a lot of protection in his suit, but Mewtwo could likely cut right through it with its attacks.

1 Couldn’t: Articuno

Marvel 5 Pokémon That Could Beat Iron Man (& 5 That Couldnt)

Articuno is a flying type Pokémon, which means that it could take on Iron Man in the air. This would give both of them better chances for winning the battle. But Iron Man really excels in the air because he can use the suit itself as a missile in order to grapple directly with his enemies. He also, on the other hand, can fight from a distance. Articuno wouldn’t have the HP stats to be able to recover from a battle with Iron Man and likely would be taken out early because of his advanced weapons.
