With the recent arrival of WandaVision, fans are finally back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time in over a year. As much as audiences love the movies in the franchise, some of them haven’t managed to go back and watch those flicks as often as they might want to.

That means that some of the actors who didn’t have major roles have been forgotten to time. It happened with almost every entry in the franchise, including the two Guardians of the Galaxy films. The main characters are memorable and iconic but some of the supporting players are less remembered.

10 Josh Brolin

At this point, every fan of the MCU, no matter how big or small, knows about Josh Brolin’s now-legendary role as The Mad Titan Thanos. The character first appeared in the post-credits scene of 2012’s The Avengers but Brolin wasn’t playing him at that time.

Instead, it was in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy where he took on the role for the first time. Brolin is uncredited but he handled the voice and motion capture work. He was only in a few scenes as he gave orders to Ronan The Accuser about obtaining the Power Stone.

9 David Hasselhoff

This is one of those moments that was great the first time you see it but is surprisingly easy to forget since then. David Hasselhof nabbed a few mentions in the films because Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) looked up to him when he was a child of the ’80s thanks to Knight Rider.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as Peter battled his father Ego (Kurt Russell), emotions poured out. Ego changed his form quite often, saying he tried to find one that suited Peter. As he delivered that line, he quickly turned into Hasselhoff to complete the actor’s cameo.

8 Alexis Denisof

Alongside Thanos, another character returned after a small role in The Avengers. That would be The Other, Thanos’s advisor of sorts. Throughout The Avengers, The Other was basically the middle man between Thanos and Loki, while The Mad Titan worked in the shadows.

The role was handled by Alexis Denisof, famous for playing Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. The real-life husband of Alyson Hannigan also appeared on How I Met Your Mother with her. The Other was killed off by Ronan in the first film.

7 Tommy Flanagan

The vast majority of people who know Tommy Flanagan seem to recognize him best from his popular role as Filip “Chibs” Telford on Sons of Anarchy. On that show, he was known for being incredibly loyal to his crew, which made his MCU role so fitting.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he portrayed Tullk, a member of the Ravager crew led by Yondu (Michael Rooker). When Taserface led a mutiny that even included the similarly loyal Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Tullk was one of the guys to stand by Yondu. It resulted in his death when he was released into space.

6 Miley Cyrus

If you aren’t someone who pays close attention to the credits or doesn’t read about many of the cameos in these films online, you most likely missed this. At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a Ravager funeral was held for Yondu in an emotional scene.

Among the people to appear at this funeral are members of the original incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Tha included Sylvester Stallone who had a notable cameo but another was Miley Cyrus. She wasn’t visible but Cyrus did voice the character of Mainframe in a post-credits scene. Gunn loved the tone of her voice, so he gave her the role.

5 Michelle Yeoh

Another one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy members to show up at the funeral was Aleta Ogord. This character was played by legendary Malaysian actor Michelle Yeoh, famous for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and more recently, Crazy Rich Asians.

James Gunn reportedly cast her for his admiration of ’90s Hong Kong films. Despite her immense talent, she’s more difficult to recall because fans might’ve been stuck on the appearance of Stallone and the massive man that is Michael Clarke Duncan in the same scene.

4 Peter Serafinowicz

Peter Serafinowicz feels like one of those actors who is kind of everywhere even if you don’t know his name off the top of your head. You’ll recognize him from the lead role in The Tick and a bit part in 2004’s Shaun of the Dead. He also voiced Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.

For Guardians of the Galaxy, he landed another relatively small role. He played Denarian Garthan Saal, one of the Nova Corps officers on Xander. His role in the film itself might not be remembered but he did utter one of the best lines from the original trailer.

3 John C. Reilly

There weren’t many actors more recognizable in the first film than John C. Reilly. Unlike some of the Guardians themselves or some other characters, he wasn’t covered in makeup or CGI special effects. He, like Serafinowicz, was a Nova Corps officer named Rhomann Dey.

He does actually get to deliver some pretty great lines and the role added to the long list of work done by Reilly over the years. One of the final shots of the film even saw him reunite with his family, safe because of his efforts with the Guardians and the rest of the Nova Corps. Alas, it wasn’t a memorable role overall.

2 Nathan Fillion

Over the years, Nathan Fillion has become one of the most beloved actors around. He first rose to prominence as Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly before landing a lengthy starring role as Richard Castle on Castle. Most people had no idea he was in this franchise.

However, in Guardians of the Galaxy, he voiced a character who encountered the gang at the Kyln prison. There’s no official name for the alien inmate, so it’s an easy cameo to overlook. The character attempted to intimidate the future Guardians but it didn’t go so well for him.

1 Glenn Close

It was around this time in the MCU that they managed to start casting actors with serious credentials. It happened in Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Robert Redford and again later that year in Guardians of the Galaxy with seven-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close.

Along the lines of Reilly and Serafinowicz, Close took on the role of a member of the Nova Corps on Xander. She was Irani Rael, the leader known as the Nova Prime. Fans who do remember her would love to see her return, though her status is unknown given the destruction of Xander by Thanos.
