Thanos was one of the most powerful enemies faced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once he had the Infinity Gauntlet, he became even harder for the Avengers to defeat.

However, there are some Pokémon with abilities that could defeat Thanos, while there are others that wouldn’t stand a chance. From Arceus’ godly state to Mew’s lack of strength, these Pokémon would either succeed or fail when going up against someone as strong as Thanos, especially with him having the Infinity Gauntlet.

10 Can Beat Thanos: Arceus Is The God Of All Pokémon

Arceus is the literal god of all Pokémon, predating all of humanity, and has godly powers to match it. Even if Thanos tried with all of his strength to fight Arceus, Arceus would still pull off a victory. It could use any of its powers to straight-up smite Thanos. Considering that it used its powers to originally create the Pokémon universe, it could probably also destroy anything within it, as well as potential threats like Thanos himself.

9 Can’t Beat Thanos: Lucario’s Aura Is No Match For Thanos’ Abilities

Lucario is a popular Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon, but it would take more than using Aura Sphere and any other related moves to take down Thanos alone. Thanos is extremely durable, so it will take a lot of strategies to go up against him with more than just a couple of fast moves. Lucario might have the upper hand when it comes to speed compared to Thanos, but it would ultimately lose when going one-on-one against Thanos in battle.

8 Can Beat Thanos: Eternatus Is Even More Destructive Than Thanos

Eternatus brought about the Darkest Day prior to Sword and Shield’s current events and almost did so a second time during the actual game. Given its destructive abilities, it’s extremely likely that it would win if it went up against Thanos.

Eternatus is just far too powerful in the series’ main story to defeat alone. Even when the player and Hop had to eventually defeat Eternatus themselves, they had the help of Zacian and Zamazenta to do so. Thanos wouldn’t stand a chance fighting Eternatus alone.

7 Can’t Beat Thanos: Pikachu Would Be Destroyed By Thanos’ Strength

Even if it were Ash’s own overpowered Pikachu trying to win against Thanos in battle, this mascot of its series would still lose. Its electrifying abilities and speed would help it run a couple of circles around Thanos, but Thanos could just use his regeneration to heal up from any of Pikachu’s quick attacks. Additionally, if Thanos had the Infinity Gauntlet at the time, he could just snap his fingers and make Pikachu no longer exist. This fan-favorite Pokémon would be one of the first ones defeated if fighting Thanos.

6 Can Beat Thanos: Palkia’s Domain Is All Of Space Itself

Thanos might be able to bend space to his will to an extent, but Palkia is the Pokémon whose domain is space itself. If it sensed Thanos trying to mess with space, Palkia could be angered to the point of intervening and smiting Thanos with its own spatial powers. It wouldn’t matter how powerful Thanos was if that happened; once Palkia is determined to take down an opponent, it won’t stop until the opponent is completely defeated.

5 Can’t Beat Thanos: Ursaring’s Mighty Strength Is Not Enough

Ursaring might have a lot of brute strength as a Normal-type, but it stands little chance against Thanos’ own durability. Additionally, Thanos is just much faster than an Ursaring normally is, so he could probably defeat Ursaring even without the Infinity Gauntlet if they went up against each other in battle.

The battle might turn out differently if Ursaring had the opportunity to change into a Gigantamax form, but on its own, it would be doomed against this terrifying Avengers villain.

4 Can Beat Thanos: Dialga Could Send Thanos Back In Time Or Reverse The Effects Of His Infinity Gauntlet

Considering that Dialga’s domain is time itself, Dialga could send Thanos back in time to when he did not have the Infinity Gauntlet or use said powers to reverse the effects of the gauntlet by potentially sending the world itself back in time. It also does not like having time messed with by other people, so Thanos trying to alter the world could anger Dialga enough to intervene as is.

3 Can’t Beat Thanos: Azelf Is Too Much Of A Glass Cannon To Win

Azelf is a powerful Psychic-type Pokémon but its lack of defense stats makes it hard for it to withstand Thanos’ attacks. Azelf is a glass cannon Pokémon due to how fragile it generally is, even with its higher speed and attack stats.

This Legendary Pokémon would definitely lose to Thanos, who is a harder-hitting and more durable opponent when compared to Azelf. It might be different if it was working with Uxie, Mesprit, and other Legendary Pokémon, but by itself it could not beat Thanos.

2 Can Beat Thanos: Solgaleo’s Amazing Moves Could Break Past Thanos’ Durability

Once Solgaleo evolves from Cosmoem, it’s a fairly powerful Pokémon that could bring down Thanos. It has many moves at its disposal that can break through Thanos’ durability. The battle between this Pokémon and Thanos would be close, but Solgaleo would ultimately win. It can hit hard and withstand a lot of attacks, and if necessary, it could open an Ultra Wormhole in space-time itself and take Thanos with it. Like its Sword Pokédex entry states, Solgaleo “will dispel any darkness and light up the world.”

1 Can’t Beat Thanos: Mew Is Powerful But Not Powerful Enough

Mew might be a fairly powerful Psychic-type Legendary from Pokémon’s first generation, but its abilities would be outmatched by Thanos’ own sheer strength. It might be able to teleport away from Thanos at times and land an attack on him by surprise, but Thanos could just snap his fingers and send Mew out of existence if he has the Infinity Gauntlet on hand. Despite Mew’s best attempts and its powerful abilities, it would go down if fighting Thanos.
