Meet Kirby’s New Friend, Elfilin! Everyone Thinks He’s A Monster
Nintendo has formally introduced Elfilin, and we don’t trust him one bit.

After being given a bare-bones first look at Kirby and The Forgotten Land last year, the genie is well and truly out of the bottle at this point as its release date approaches. What looks to be the most ambitious Kirby game to date will arrive on Nintendo Switch March 25, 2022. The release date was revealed last week in a trailer that also included information on the game’s co-op mode and The Forgotten Land’s hub, Waddle Dee Town.
Nintendo continues to reveal more and more about The Forgotten Land, including information about an all-new character, Elfilin. Elfilin could be seen in the background of last week’s trailer but wasn’t formally introduced until now. A screenshot of the cute little critter was posted on Twitter by Nintendo, accompanied by the reveal that he will accompany Kirby on his adventure.
Elfilin is a mouse-like creature with massive ears, one of which has a piece missing. Pretty adorable, right? Well, maybe not. Kirby players have been hurt before, and a lot of them don’t trust Elfilin one bit. The assumption is that despite Elfilin’s efforts to help Kirby save Waddle Dees and The Forgotten Land, he’s actually only doing it to benefit himself.
Long-time Kirby fans have good reason not to trust Elfilin. They’ve been burned before. Marx and Magolor were both introduced to the Kirby universe in a similar way to Elfilin. Characters who began their journeys in Super Star and Return To Dreamland as allies of Kirby. However, it was revealed later in both games that each character was only doing it for their own personal gain and wound up battling back against the pink protagonist.
There are a number of theories regarding what might happen with Elfilin already. One pretty feasible one is that Elfilin is trying to find the missing piece of his ear and using Kirby to help him achieve that. Once he recovers that piece and becomes whole again, Elfilin will take his true form and transform into what might well be one of The Forgotten Land’s more formidable bosses. Here’s hoping he has no ulterior motive and Kirby just has a new friend this time.
