Ochaco Uraraka may be one of the friendliest students from Class 1-A, but as Katsuki Bakugo points out during My Hero Academia’s Sports Festival arc, she’s far from frail. In fact, Uraraka made an impressive hero-in-training when the series first started, and she’s come a long way since then — especially after interning at Gunhead’s hero agency and doing her work-study under Ryuko.

Given her abilities, it stands to reason Uraraka would make easy work of certain Pokémon if pitted against them in a battle, though many of the more powerful ones would likely overpower her.

10 Could Defeat: Typhlosion

Typhlosion is often likened to Bakugo, probably because both have explosive, fiery moves that hold up against almost any opponent. Still, Uraraka was able to formulate a decent plan to defeat Bakugo when they went head to head, and even if she didn’t win that match, the same strategy could help her win against Typhlosion.

As long as Uraraka could dodge Typhlosion’s Fire-type moves, she could use the debris left by its explosions to counter-attack, and distract the Pokémon long enough to get close and levitate it.

9 Would Lose To: Charizard

Uraraka may have shown that she can handle being under fire — literally — but Charizard’s wings give it an advantage against her in a fight. With the ability to soar just about anywhere, all while shooting fire out of its mouth, Charizard would have an easy time hitting Uraraka with its most powerful moves.

Given that the Fire-type would likely remain in the air for most of this battle, Uraraka doesn’t really stand a chance of hitting it with her Quirk or of using other objects to levitate against it. This would be a mostly one-sided fight, and it wouldn’t end in her favor.

8 Could Defeat: Hitmonchan

Hitmonchan may have Fighting-type moves on its side, but Uraraka has demonstrated that she has a knack for self-defense on multiple occasions. Not only would this enable her to dodge some of Hitmonchan’s attacks, but it would help her land a hit on it as well.

And it would only take one hit from Uraraka to put Hitmonchan out of the running. Once she touches this Pokémon, it’ll be floating in the air and she’ll be taking home the winner’s prize.

7 Would Lose To: Onix

My Hero Academia 5 Pokémon Ochaco Uraraka Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

A fight between Onix and Uraraka would be an interesting one, if only because the odds wouldn’t be completely stacked in one’s favor. Onix wouldn’t be able to directly assault Uraraka without risking her using her Quirk on it, so it would need to depend on long-range attacks, like Rock Throw and Rock Slide.

Of course, if Uraraka could dodge the oncoming debris, she’d easily be able to turn the stones against her opponent. Unfortunately for her, Rock-type moves don’t have much of an effect on Onix, so it’s more likely the Pokémon would knock her out before she’s able to do enough damage to it.

6 Could Defeat: Hitmonlee

My Hero Academia 5 Pokémon Ochaco Uraraka Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

Hitmonlee would have the same problems defeating Uraraka that Hitmonchan would. Both opponents would match one another in physical combat, and Hitmonlee might even have the advantage over Uraraka. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be enough with her Quirk thrown into the equation.

If Uraraka managed to touch Hitmonlee once, she’d be able to levitate it and that would determine the entire battle.

5 Would Lose To: Mewtwo

My Hero Academia 5 Pokémon Ochaco Uraraka Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

There’s not much any Pokémon or human being could do to hold their own against a powerful legendary like Mewtwo, and Uraraka’s skills certainly wouldn’t help against it.

Not only would anything she levitated and aimed at Mewtwo be stopped by his psychic powers, but she’d also have a hard time getting close to it, rendering her combat experience relatively useless.

4 Could Defeat: Lapras

My Hero Academia 5 Pokémon Ochaco Uraraka Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

If a fight between Lapras and Uraraka were to take place on land, it’s already likely Uraraka would win based on speed alone. She’d have no problem maneuvering around the Pokémon’s moves and getting close enough to levitate it, but there are other reasons Uraraka has an advantage here as well.

Since Lapras is an Ice-type, it’s weak to Rock- and Fighting-type attacks. Given that Uraraka can levitate rocks and has impressive combat skills, she’s well equipped to go head-to-head with this Pokémon.

3 Would Lose To: Mew

If Uraraka can’t best Mewtwo, it’s not likely she’d be able to defeat the Pokémon it was based on: Mew. Mew has similar psychic abilities to Mewtwo, and they’d be equally as effective in blocking any debris Uraraka sent its way, along with any combat moves the girl attempted to get in.

Mew also disappears and reappears pretty easily in battle, meaning it could sneak up on Uraraka. After that, it would only take one strong move for Mew to come out on top.

2 Could Defeat: Snorlax

My Hero Academia 5 Pokémon Ochaco Uraraka Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

Snorlax may be big, but even this sleepy Pokémon doesn’t stand a chance against Uraraka’s Zero Gravity. Given that Snorlax on the slow side and doesn’t have any particularly precise, flashy moves, Uraraka would make easy work of it, quickly reaching the Pokémon and activating her Quirk.

In fact, it’s possible Snorlax will even sleep through the whole fun. Now there’s an entertaining image.

1 Would Lose To: Raichu

Raichu may be weak against rock attacks, but even if Uraraka could find stones to aim at this Electric-type Pokémon, she probably wouldn’t be quick enough to defeat it. Raichu’s speed would give it an advantage over Uraraka, and that’s even without taking into account its moveset.

If Raichu decided to use thunderbolt or an equally electrifying attack against Uraraka, she’d be truly out of luck. Those moves are more precise than explosive, fire moves, so it’d be harder for her to dodge them and come out in one piece.
