It might not seem like a big ask, but Animal Crossing villagers have been wanting to sit on the ground for some time now. Thanks to Nintendo’s winter update, dreams of picnics and sunbathing on the beach have now come true.
Adding to New Horizons’ existing function of sitting or lying on furniture, your little ball-handed islanders can now sit wherever they please. The aforementioned perk can be unlocked by purchasing the Hip Reaction Collection from the Nook Stop in Residential Services. The collection can be obtained for 2,700 Nook Miles and includes a host of new Reactions to try. Additional Reactions include Ta-da, Wave Goodbye, Yoga, and more. Some Reactions – including Yoga – could be used before, however, you can now use them to join other villagers in their activities.
After purchasing the Hip Reaction Collection, the new Reactions will automatically appear in your Reactions catalogue. To use the Sit Down command, you only need to select the sitting cat from the list to plant yourself anywhere. You can even relax on the floor of Residential Services, or overstay your welcome at villagers’ houses. Most people seem to be taking the opportunity to sit by the water, enjoying the rivers and open seas in New Horizons. Others may take the opportunity to camp in the woods, and plop down next to a campfire.
Before the winter update arrived, villagers were getting creative with their ground-sitting. One Redditor posted that they had purchased the floor seat from Nooks Cranny, which allowed them to sit on the ground with fellow residents. Other than that, the use of basic furniture was the only other way you could sit and enjoy the views with other characters, or by yourself for that matter. Nintendo is starting to drip feed new content to fans in a plan to boost New Horizons’ sales, and the Sit Down command has certainly put a joyful reaction on islanders’ faces.
