New Pokemon GO Safari Event Coming This Month

Over the past several month, Pokemon GO has hosted seven different Safari Zone events in shopping centres all around Europe. In total, over 20,000 trainers have made an appearance at these small-scale events, and over 6 million Pokemon have been caught as players came together. In more major tourist locations such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Nyhaven in Copenhagen, 59 million of the collectable creatures were captured as the Safari Zones became more wider-scale, and now yet another event is on its way for trainers in Japan.

According to a recent announcement from the Pokemon GO team, the prefecture of Tottori in Japan is hosting a Safari Zone event in the famous Tottori Sand Dunes. Beginning on Friday, November 24 and ending Sunday, November 26, a wide variety of Pokemon will become available in the iconic tourist location, including some that are rarely seen in the country.

The famous tourist location is the largest dune system in Japan, spanning over 30 square kilometres, and have existed for over 100,000 years despite being affected by tsunamis and a government reforestation program. The dunes still attract a great deal of visiters however, and the upcoming Pokemon GO event aims to inspire more fans to see the breathtaking location in all its glory.

A promotional image released by Niantic reveals that Lapras, Unown, Omanyte, and Kabuto make up just some of the rarer catches that will see increased spawn rates in Tottori later this month, but both the first and second generation of starter Pokemon will be making an appearance too. Another event that the game will be hosting in just over a week’s time is the highly-anticipated Pokemon Festa in Seoul.

During Pokemon GO week, South Korean fans can visit the capital city in order to encounter the original legendary Pokemon, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres as well as king of the sea, Lugia, despite the powerful creatures being unavailable in the rest of the world. All throughout the country, trainers will also find a range of increased spawns, meaning that residents of Korea will find it far easier to fill up their Pokedex while the event is active.

Pokemon GO is out now for Android and iOS devices. The Tottori Safari Zone event will be active from November 24 through November 26.
