A New World developer has hinted that winter-themed festivities and events could be added to the MMORPG in time for the holiday season. The latest release from Amazon Games, New World launched only a couple of months ago in late September, and is now set for its first holiday season.
New World has been rolling out updates and patches since it was released, introducing new content and features, as well as fixing bugs and general performance issues. The game has seen some criticism from players who’ve been expecting deeper and more meaningful game updates, and fan reactions to a recent patch, released last week, were largely negative. When asked about potential seasonal map changes and whether or not the creator could share details, Lane replied, “Yes, yes, and a little,” adding: “I think seasonal events are hugely important for MMOs and something we want to do for sure.” While Lane “can’t get into specifics” at this time, he did tease, “I can say that winter is a great time for festivals!”
In-game seasonal festivals are relatively commonplace for MMOs like New World, so it might not come as a surprise that the game is likely to follow suit in holding a seasonal festival. With a holiday event, fans can likely look forward to the possibility of new activities and items, while new holiday-themed goals and tasks are also very possible. There are no further details of what’s to come with the seasonal content at the time of writing, but New World fans can keep an eye on the New World blog and social media channels, as an announcement of any winter events will most likely be made there.
Amazon Games’ holiday festivities could go some way in appeasing some of the players previously upset over the increased difficulty of New World’s AIs.
