One-Punch Man is a highly exaggerated anime satire — from the invincible hero to the ridiculous sidekicks to the overpowered villains (who are, nevertheless, defeated by said invincible hero.) Created by mysterious online artist, One, this series has developed a cult following for its wacky storyline as well as its hilarious characters.

There are several memorable roles in One-Punch Man, many of whom have found everlasting life on the internet (as memes.) The characters have certain qualities that define who they are, and while this series aims to mock them, each one can be roughly classified into categories according to their moral compass. Here are ten of the main characters, arranged according to the Dungeons & Dragons alignment system.

10 Mumen Rider – Lawful Good (Crusader)

Mumen Rider, or Satoru, is the only hero who seems to care about honor. He is a typical Crusader, given his presence at every scene of action, irrespective of how dangerous it can be for a C-Class like himself. For instance, he charges into battle with the Deep Sea King, a monster who effortlessly pummeled the likes of Genos.

Mumen Rider also seems to show a deep loyalty towards people like Saitama, having been protected by him on multiple occasions. This is seen when he tries to write him a letter of thanks (even though he doesn’t quite finish.)

9 Demon Cyborg – Neutral Good (Benefactor)

Demon Cyborg is Genos’ superhero name, rather inappropriate because he is the nicest person/robot one could ever meet. Aside from perennially annoying Saitama to make him a better fighter, Genos is ready to fight any villain who dares (attempt to) hurt his precious master.

Genos’ ambitions slowly change throughout the series, from seeking revenge for his family to becoming a true hero in service of those weaker than himself — true signs of the Benefactor.

8 Tornado Of Terror – Chaotic Good (Rebel)

Tatsumaki is called the Tornado of Terror because of the havoc she wreaks on anyone stupid enough to get in her way. Though she generally exudes an aura of arrogance, as when she blasted Genos into a wall for scolding her, she takes her position at the top of the S-Class list (given Blast’s absence) very seriously.

Tatsumaki displays several Rebel traits, such as her refusal to listen to the advice of people smarter than herself, like Silver Fang, for instance. In any case, she usually manages to get the job done, so nothing much can be said against her attitude.

7 Silver Fang – Lawful Neutral (Judge)

As one of the oldest heroes, Silver Fang is blessed with wisdom and restraint. As a Judge, he has incredible perceptive abilities, being able to see through Saitama’s ridiculous appearance and identify his true power. Silver Fang is neutral in situations of moral responsibility, which is shown by his lack of interruption while Tanktop Black Hole was spreading rumors that Saitama was responsible for destroying the home of innocent citizens.

He shows no bias whatsoever, not even in favor of himself, admonishing Charanko for boasting about Silver Fang’s prowess in front of the clearly superior Saitama.

6 Caped Baldy – True Neutral (Undecided)

Caped Baldy is the unfortunate, but hilarious, superhero name given to Saitama. Considering his unclassifiable levels of strength, Saitama spends most of his time bored out of his mind. His existentialist persona makes him unable to feel most emotions, especially given that he has nowhere to go but down.

Saitama is the definition of an Undecided character; there is nothing he has a firm opinion about, whether it’s world peace or hero politics (excluding that one mosquito, of course.)

5 Metal Bat – Chaotic Neutral (Free Spirit)

Metal Bat embodies the Free Spirit — he does whatever he wants, as long as he holds confidence in his own abilities. However, he can be irresponsible at times, for instance when he destroys Melzargard’s brain marble with no care for how it works or how it can be put to use.

Except for Zenko, his sister, Metal Bat holds no regard for anyone else. This is probably due to being practically invulnerable to damage, as seen when he is unfazed by Senior Centipede’s attacks, and later manages to destroy his powerful opponent in a single blow.

4 Sweet Mask – Lawful Evil (Dominator)

Amai Mask, or Handsomely Masked Sweet Mask, is a classic Dominator. He has openly claimed that the only reason he doesn’t rise into S-Class is to prevent “weaklings” from doing so as well. Therefore, he prefers to be the bottleneck on the way to the higher ranks (which is the reason Atomic Samurai’s disciples are unable to cross over from A-Class.)

Mask cannot tolerate evil in any form, but his reaction towards monsters is rather aggressive. For instance, when he coldly murders a bunch of Dark Matter Thieves by pronouncing them to be evil and carrying out the sentence himself.

3 Speed-o’-Sound Sonic – Neutral Evil (Malefactor)

Speed-o’-Sound Sonic is the grumpiest character in the series, mostly because his attempts at defeating Saitama consistently, and inevitably, meet with humiliating failure (it especially rankles when Saitama calls him things like Jack O’Lantern Panic.) Being a Malefactor, Sonic sees no difference between good and evil, attacking people with indiscriminate ruthlessness.

He allows himself to be a hired assassin, doing whatever job is given to him as long as the pay is high enough, for instance when he attacks the Paradise Group on behalf of Mr. Monier.

2 Boros – Neutral Evil (Malefactor)

One Punch Man D&D Moral Alignments Of The Main Characters

Boros has spent eons as the most powerful being in the galaxy/universe. He resembles Saitama in that both of them are incredibly bored at not having anyone strong enough to fight. Unlike Caped Baldy, however, Boros chooses to go looking for opponents to quench his thirst.

He is a Malefactor because he cares little for the destroyed star systems he leaves behind in his wake. At the end, though, Boros comes to terms with his demise, thanking Saitama for giving him the battle of a lifetime, even though he did not win.

1 Garou – Chaotic Evil (Destroyer)

Garou, Silver Fang’s prized ex-pupil, despises heroes with a vengeance. In fact, he has shown his support of monsters since childhood, cheering on the villains while watching TV (as he felt bad for them for never winning.) As an adult, Garou has become a Destroyer, seeking only to lay waste to any self-proclaimed hero he manages to find.

He doesn’t much care for the superhero classes, attacking those far weaker than him with a sense of twisted pride. The only tender emotions he displays are directed towards a bullied child, as he sees himself in the little boy.
