The eccentric and artistic Yusuke Kitagawa joins the Phantom Thieves as they prepare to infiltrate their second palace. Though he is initially cautious of the Thieves, he soon grows to be a vital part of their group. Here is a spoiler-free guide on how to max out his Confidant in Persona 5 Royal.

Availability

Beginning on 6/18, Yusuke can be found in the Shibuya Station Underground Walkway. He is typically available after school every day of the week. On rainy days, he can also be found at night. Note that there are several rank-up events that cannot happen on rainy days.

Perks

• Rank 1 || Card Duplication: Allows Yusuke to copy any skill card in 1 day.*
• Rank 3 || Follow Up: Chance to perform a follow-up attack if Joker’s attack does not down the enemy.
• Rank 4 || Artist Talk: Chance to step in after Shadow negotiation fails, allowing a retry.
• Rank 5 || Card Creation: Allows Yusuke to recreate any previously copied Skill Card in 1 day.*
• Rank 6 || Harisen Recovery: Chance to cure status ailments inflicted upon party members.
• Rank 7 || Live Painting: Allows Yusuke to instantly use either Card Duplication or Card Recreation.
• Rank 8 || Endure: Chance to withstand an otherwise fatal attack with 1 HP remaining.
• Rank 9 || Protect: Chance to shield Joker from an otherwise fatal attack.
• Rank 10 || Second Awakening: Transforms his persona, Goemon, into a mythological trickster, Kamo Susano-o.

*In NG+, the cards you’ve asked him to duplicate in your original run will still be available for Card Creation.

Rank Up Events

As with every confidant, having a persona of a corresponding arcana will increase the number of points you earn with them by one. The point increases with a Emperor persona on hand are indicated in brackets next to the regular increases as such:

Rank 1

After the day’s events on 6/18, head to the Shibuya Station Underground Walkway and speak to Yusuke. The resulting event will unlock the Emperor Confidant.

Yusuke will ask to head to Mementos, and the two of you will soon encounter some shadows. Don’t worry too much about taking them down, as they’re pretty weak and will all self-destruct by the third turn. However, if you want to take them out quickly, they’re weak to fire and wind.

Non-Rank Invited Hangouts

Occasionally, Yusuke will text Joker to hang out with him somewhere. While these hangouts will not increase your rank, you will still receive affinity points. Replying to Yusuke’s messages immediately will incur a 1.2x increase in affinity points. All the same parameters for bonuses apply to non-rank hangouts as well.
