10 Hoopa Unbound (Pokémon The Movie: Hoopa & the Clash of Ages) [2015]

Although Hoopa Unbound may not rank among the best legendary Pokémon featured in the films because of its mythical classification, it was a massive threat to all in Pokémon: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. Not only did Hoopa Unbound have a careless and arrogant attitude, but it didn’t hesitate to summon powerful legendary Pokémon meant to destroy everything in Dahara City.

On that note, Hoopa also wanted to eradicate its kind-hearted alter ego, Hoopa Confined, allowing it to become the true Hoopa. Thankfully Hoopa confined, with assistance from Ash, his companions, and the others he meets in the film ended Hoopa Unbound’s rampage.

9 Lawerence III (Pokémon: The Movie 2000 — The Power Of One) [2000]

One of the best Pokémon films of all time featured a villain who not only was egotistical but was unconcerned about the Pokémon world’s outcome. Lawerence III, from Pokémon: The Movie 2000 — The Power of One, lusted for power and glory and didn’t care how cruel his methods were in achieving this goal.



Lawerence III showed no mercy toward the legendary Pokémon he sought, using his machines to capture and physically harm them. On that note, he also had an absurd god complex and disregard for the whole world’s safety.

Although this villain may not be among the smartest anime characters of all time, Alva’s manipulative and intimidating personality made him a fierce foe for Ash and his companions to take down. Whether it was his goal to cease control over an entire kingdom, manipulate the kingdom’s prince, or forcefully make Pokémon mega evolve, Alva stayed true to his mission.

Not only that, but Alva had the intent to kill everyone, Pokémon or human, when his plan is thwarted later in the film. Despite trying to get away from punishment many times, Alva’s eventually caught.

7 Butler (Pokémon: Jirachi — Wish Maker) [2003]

Despite Butler being in a happy relationship with someone he grew up with, Team Magma’s mockery and rejection of his ideas drove Butler to become the obsessive, revenge-seeking villain in Pokémon: Jirachi — Wish Maker. Having disregard for his lover’s safety alongside Ash and his friends, Butler didn’t want anyone thwarting his plans to create Groudon using Jirachi’s powers.

Whether fans didn’t approve of Butler harming his girlfriend and having selfish and careless intent, he later realizes his mistakes when his Groudon creation causes havoc. Thankfully, Butler redeems himself and helps Ash, Max, and Jirachi take down his corrupted Groudon.

6 Grings Kodai (Pokémon: Zoroark: Master Of Illusions) [2010]

Although Annie and Oakley don’t match Jessie and James’s status as one of the most iconic duos in anime, they made a statement through their evil schemes shown in Pokémon Heroes: Latios and Latias. Being members of Team Rocket, one can already tell these two were up to no good, but unlike Jessie and James, they showed more harmful intent regarding their mission.

Not only do they harm Latios and Latias with electric nets, but Oakley causes a massive tsunami to drown Alto Mare City and Ash along with it. Considering Annie couldn’t stop her younger sister from her power-hungry attitude, which led to Latios sacrificing his life to save the city, it makes these two girls’ villainry more impactful.

4 Molly Hale (Pokémon 3: The Movie — Spell Of The Unknown: Entei) [2000]

One of the youngest foes Ash and friends had to defeat was Molly Hale from Pokémon 3: The Movie – Spell of the Unown: Entei. Molly’s intention to hold Ash’s mom, Delia, a hostage is horrible and cruel. However, when taking Molly’s father and mother’s disappearances and her loneliness into account, some may feel sympathetic toward her.

Despite that fact, Molly comes off as naive and selfish regarding her control over Entei and desire to kidnap and keep Delia from escaping her sight. Thankfully, Ash and his friends convince Molly of her evil ways, although Entei ends up biting the dust at the movie’s end.

Mewtwo destroyed buildings and people and had a strong vendetta against humans and the Pokémon by their side. It took a battle between its counterpart Mew, Ash’s heroic sacrifice, and the tears of all the cloned and regular Pokémon to help Mewtwo see the beauty behind companionship between humans and Pokémon.

When Ash and friends are in the past, they witness this evil-doer’s actions firsthand as he attempts to murder Arceus using an army of powerful Pokémon and silver water to subdue it. Not only that, but Marcus almost gets Ash and his friends wiped from existence.

One of the most sadistic, cunning, and intimidating villains from the Pokémon films is the Iron Masked Marauder from Pokémon 4Ever – Celebi: Voice of the Forest. The Iron Masked Marauder didn’t only threaten Ash, his friends, and Celebi, but he also targeted Team Rocket’s boss Giovanni and had plans to rule and overthrow him.

The Iron Masked Marauder’s abuse toward Celebi; electrocuting it, forcing it to attack others, and manipulating Celebi to the point where it did pass away for a brief moment. However, thanks to the forest Pokémon that surrounded it, Celebi’s health replenished.
