Due to the limitations of games, there are some features in the Pokémon anime that, unfortunately, cannot be replicated in the games regardless of how fun it would be. One of these abilities that do not crossover is being able to use moves creatively and simultaneously to make some impressive (and superior to their individual components) combination moves.

While there are some combination moves out there like the Pledges or battles that can be set up for some killer effects in competitions, there are some combinations that would be amazing if only players were allowed to use them.

9 Players Should Be Able To Sky Drop A High Jump Kick

Sky Drop is a Flying-type move where the Pokémon picks up an opponent to throw them down to the ground from a great height, causing intense damage. High Jump Kick is a powerful Fighting-type move that works best the higher the user can get in the air. If the move misses, it could really hurt the user instead.

So it would be a fantastic addition to the game if the High Jump Kick could be amplified by a Pokémon with good aim and a well-placed Sky Drop. It could combine both of the Pokémon’s Attack stats and amplify the accuracy of the High Jump Kick, leading to an ultra-powerful combination in a double-battle.

8 Being Able To “Surf That Muddy Water” Would Be A Game-Changer

Pokémon 10 Moves That Would Make Great Combos

Muddy Water is a move that summons forth a wave of dirty water to attack an enemy with, and, as one would expect, the Surf move allows users to ride waves. So it’s not much of a stretch to think that a Muddy Water move could be combined with Surf to make an extra-strong move, especially in dirtier battlefields.

The anime shows Muddy Water a little differently, but in the games, Muddy Water and Surf already use the same assets. Combining the two would greatly improve the game.

7 User Need The Ability To Bounce Into A Body Slam

Pokémon 10 Moves That Would Make Great Combos

Bounce is a two-round move. In the first round the user bounces into the sky, and the second it crashes down into its opponent. Body Slam is a heavy-hitting move where the Pokémon slams its entire body into its opponent- the threat of this move is greatly impacted by the size and type of Pokémon using it.

Combine the two could lessen the importance of the Pokémons body in the equation. The power obtained from the Bounce could make up for the power lost in the Body Slam in smaller creatures. Bounces work out well in falls too, so it would negate a lot of the recoil damage from missing.

6 Heat Wave Could Be Combined With Blast Burn

Blast Burn is a powerful Fire-type move, though it can only be learned by starter Pokémon. Heat Wave is a Fire-type move that blasts opponents with an extremely hot wave of energy. If it was combined with a volatile move like Blast Burn, it could easily become one of the most powerful moves in the game.

A combination like this would be detrimental to a Grass or an Ice-type or give an edge against more resistant typings. It would definitely melt the defense of any unsuspecting Steel-type too, being an awesome combination to use against those high defense walls.

5 Players Need To Be Able To Aqua Jet Through A Water Pulse

Pokémon 10 Moves That Would Make Great Combos

Water Pulse is a move that creates a big, confusing pulse of water to cover the field, and Aqua Jet is a fast move where a Pokémon goes through a stream of water. So being able to blast out a pulse and immediately jet through it to double up the power, or having the stream of water spreading out in a confusing array behind a speedy jet would make for some impressive combinations.

It would be a disorienting mess and would require an incredibly talented and fast Pokémon to pull it off. It would likely become a signature move for Buizel and Floatzel due to their affinity for Aqua Jet in general.

4 Combining Wrap And Bite Would Create A Terrifying Attack

Considering how many Pokémon have the ability to bite something, it’s surprising how few of them can obtain this as a move. What is also surprising is that players are unable to combine this move with the “Wrap” move.

What could be more terrifying than a Pokémon wrapping a user up in their tight embrace and then going in for a bite? The combination of these two moves would make for a powerful attack.

3 Users Could Make A Quick Attack Even More Swift

Pokémon 10 Moves That Would Make Great Combos

Both Quick Attack and Swift are low-tier Normal-type moves. Quick Attack is a high-priority move that often takes precedence over other moves unless they are against an even faster high-priority move. Swift is a low damaging move but the bonus is that it will always hit.

So the combination of a Quick Attack employing the move Swift would deal either extra damage or get the Pokémon closer for another hit next round. With the added bonus of being too fast to even try to dodge the sparkling stars. Add in an Agility to make it so disorienting that the stars could even cause confusion.

2 Use The Colors In Aurora Beam To Build A Trick Room

Pokémon 10 Moves That Would Make Great Combos

Trick Room is a move that swaps the priority of movement so that the slower Pokémon will move first. This allows slow creatures like Shuckle and Regigigas to take precedence and launch an attack while they are able.

The move itself is comprised of a dazzling array of colors, which is something it has in common with the move Aurora Beam. Aurora Beam can freeze and disable opponents. Combining this with Trick Room would give the slow Pokémon a huge advantage over their faster enemies.

1 Disappear Into A Dark Pulse With Phantom Force

Phantom Force is a horrifying Ghost-type move that allows the user to disappear for one turn and reappear after landing a devastating blow on their enemy. Dark Pulse is a strong Dark-type move that involves negative energy exploding from the Pokémon in all directions.

Combining these moves could result in a player creating a sort of cloaking device, sneaking up on their opponent while the battle area is dark, disappearing, and then launching an unexpected attack upon reappearing. A Gengar would be the perfect creature for this combo move.
