Pokémon, one of the most well-known anime series of all time, features a diverse cast of villains. Some of these villains are nastier than others, and some are so evil that they make the other villains look half decent.
The most common crime in the series is cruelty toward Pokémon and their well-being. Different villains have different motivations, backstories, and perspectives on life. Their tactics for achieving their objectives show viewers a darker side of the Pokémon universe. Despite the fact that this is a children’s show, there are villains who are guilty of torture, treachery, abuse, manipulation, unethical laboratory testing, and murder.
10 Iron Mask Marauder Tried To Conquer The World
Iron Mask Marauder, an officer of Team Rocket, was the first truly evil character before Pokémon Hunter J came around. In Pokémon 4Ever – Celebi: Voice of the Forest, he claimed to have captured the Grass-type Mythical Pokémon Celebi for Giovanni. However, his real motive was to harness its power to overthrow his employer, take over Team Rocket, and conquer the entire world.
Marauder is a vicious, deceitful, and arrogant character. He will gladly sacrifice anything or anyone to attain his goals. However, abandoning his Pokémon later proved to be his undoing, leaving himself totally helpless against the enraged forest Pokémon.
9 Colonel Hanson Almost Destroyed Togepi Paradise
Colonel Hanson is a sneaky Mirage Kingdom officer who devised a scheme to take over the Mirage Kingdom using Misty’s Togepi. To kidnap Misty’s Pokemon, he joined forces with Team Rocket’s brains. His cruelty took a toll on a whole bunch of Togepi, and his heart was so evil that those Togepi became sick and weak. The Togepi paradise was nearly completely destroyed by him. In the end, anyone who trusted him paid the price.
8 Malamar Proved That Evil Pokémon Do Exist
Malamar is a cruel and brutal Pokémon with a mysterious and dark past in Pokémon the Series: XY. Its goal was world domination, and it tried to carry out its mission without worrying about anything else. Malamar desired a world that could adapt to its own kind without consideration for other living things. This Pokemon disproved the belief that evil Pokemon don’t exist and that bad trainers are the ones responsible for their Pokemon’s actions.
Malamar, unlike the majority of Pokémon, is a criminal that has hypnotized and controlled people. To stop Malamar, Team Rocket, and Ash had no choice but to work together, which showed how big of a threat the evil Pokémon was.
7 Pokémon Hunter J Was A Vicious Pokémon-Napper
Professor Hunter J is considered by many Pokémon fans to be the franchise’s most wicked character. She is a ruthless Pokémon hunter who captures and steals Pokémon in order to sell them on the black market for a profit to her clients.
Hunter J has come dangerously close to killing Ash on multiple occasions when he’s come across her. For example, Hunter J kidnapped Riolu and set fire to an entire forest in order to capture the Pokémon. She frequently succeeds in capturing Pokémon, such as Riolu, who’s eventually rescued. As the show progresses, her hatred for Ash grows stronger, and her attacks become more vicious.
6 Ghetsis Used Those Closest To Him To Achieve Power
At first, the audience did not see Ghetsis as a villain. His motivations for his acts could have been understood as just. He had a different point of view and sought to persuade people that Pokemon should be free of human slavery. When the audience discovered that he only did this to rule Unova as the only one with Pokémon, his motivations were revealed to be selfish and manipulative.
Ghetsis is a vile villain because of how he uses people as tools in his schemes. He does not value those who value him. Ghetsis even raised a boy, N, who had the ability to communicate with Pokémon, convinced him that he was a freak, and exploited him as a pawn in his grand scheme for power. A life of abuse and manipulation clearly takes its toll on a person, as Ghetsis ultimately went mad.
5 Lysandre Wanted To Kill Almost Everyone
In the XYZ Pokémon series, Lysandre, the main antagonist, was absolutely mad. Obsessed with beauty and preserving it in the world, he attempted to destroy all Pokémon in order to prevent them from being used to harm or steal from others.
Lysandre truly believed that the planet would be a better place if people and Pokémon outside of Team Flare didn’t exist. He tried to kill everyone in order to safeguard the world from selfish humans and keep the planet’s scarce resources from running out for those whom he deemed worthy.
4 Tyson Helped Run Professor Sebastian’s Experiments
Tyson is a particularly nasty villain compared to the other Pokemon villains. He is an extremist with a desire to force Pokemon to evolve. “Tyson made his first appearance in the episode Talkin’ ‘Bout an Evolution,” in which he was in charge of Project R, Professor Sebastian’s evolution-inducing experiment. As a result of this experiment, a Magikarp was forced to evolve into a Red Gyarados.
Tyson attacked Ash, Misty, and Brock at the Lake of Rage when he found out they had seen the Gyarados in “Rage of Innocence.” He was determined to keep them from leaving the lake with knowledge of his experiment, but Lance and his Dragonite stopped his attack. Tyson was caught and arrested in the end.
3 Professor Sebastian Conducted Unethical Experiments
Professor Sebastian is a member of Team Rocket and an evil scientist. Sebastian creates inventions that would allow humans to manipulate and exploit Pokemon’s energy. In “The Legend of Thunder” episodes of the Pokemon Chronicles, Attila and Hun used his electricity-absorbing crystal in their mission to capture Raikou.
Even meddling with evolution is something the professor is guilty of. In “Talkin’ ‘Bout an Evolution” and “Rage of Innocence,” he had an entire research station dedicated to perfecting a weapon that could force Pokemon to evolve.
2 Dr. Yung Genetically Modified Pokémon
Dr. Yung, also known as The Mirage Master, committed the worst of all unnatural acts when he genetically modified his Pokémon. He also tortured Oak and Pikachu in order to obtain information. Dr. Yung is the true antagonist of Pokémon: The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon and the developer of the Mirage System, which can create Mirage Pokémon.
Yung is immoral and ruthless, careless for the lives of Pokémon and their well-being, despite his pleasant demeanor. He believed that lives may be taken at any time if they helped him with his studies. He’s also spiteful, threatening anybody who tried to stop him.
1 Cyrus Wanted To Annihilate the Universe
Cyrus, the boss of Team Galactic, is the main antagonist of the Sinnoh games. Cyrus desires to completely annihilate the current universe and reshape it to his liking. He has absolutely no regard for life, making him truly evil and unredeemable. He sees himself as a god and others as unworthy. In his universe, he is god, and Legendaries will serve him whether they like it or not. Because he is incapable of feeling empathy, he will most likely use the Legendaries to construct the world he desires, rather than seeing them as a part of his universe’s destiny.
