Pokemon Sword and Shield are heading to Nintendo Switch this November, and there’s an amazing pre-order bonus for those who want to order the game right now. As usual, the launch of a new Pokemon game will also bring a new generation of Pokemon anime to the screens. However, this time, the anime will be making some significant changes to the storyline. Ash Ketchum, the long-standing protagonist Pokemon Trainer of the Pokemon anime series, won’t be the only protagonist; instead, another new character will also join the series as a second protagonist. The new character is Gou, a young Pokemon trainer on his adventure and he’s voiced by Daiki Yamashita, who also voices Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia.

Yamashita fans can rejoice as they’ll get to hear him in the new Pokemon anime along with his regular Izuku Midoriya role in My Hero Academia Season 4 coming this month. There’s also a My Hero Academia game in development which may feature characters from Season 4 as well. Fans who are unaware of Yamashita’s other works can also find him in other anime which include the upcoming No Guns Life and Young Disease Outburst Boy. My Hero Academia fans will be glad to know that Yamashita is not the only person to lend his talents for the new Pokemon series. Yuki Hayashi, the music composer behind My Hero Academia, also announced on his Twitter that he would be joining the Pokemon series as the new music supervisor.

As already mentioned, the new Pokemon anime series won’t be kicking Ash Ketchum out as previously rumored; instead he’ll continue his journey through previous regions to become the Pokemon Master while Gou will start his Pokemon adventure alongside his Pokemon partner Scorbunny. The Galar region from Pokemon Sword and Shield will be the new Pokemon region to explore, and Scorbunny is one of the three starters from the Galar region which means Gou is from the Galar region as well.

It’s still unknown how both these character stories will work alongside each other, but fans who wanted to move beyond Ash Ketchum finally got their wish as they’ll be able to follow the journey of the new protagonist. The new Pokemon series will launch in Japan on November 17 while the English dub of the series is 20 episodes behind which means English series won’t hit the screens until the beginning of 2020. More information regarding Pokemon Sword and Shield will be revealed next week.
