Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl How to Get Leafeon & Glaceon

The Sinnoh region welcomed two new Eeveelutions to the world of Pokemon: Leafeon and Glaceon. Evolving them in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum was different than Eevee’s other evolutions because it required trainers to level up their Eevee in specific locations. In certain generations after Sinnoh, Leafeon and Glaceon could be evolved from Leaf Stones and Ice Stones respectively. Now, with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the original method of getting Leafeon and Glaceon has made a return.

Like the original games, there is only one Eevee in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Furthermore, if players want both Leafeon and Glaceon, they’ll need to breed Eevee (or whoever they choose to evolve Eevee into) at the Pokemon Daycare.

Evolving Eevee into Leafeon

To get Eevee, speak to Bebe in Hearthome City after getting the National Dex from Professor Rowan. If players want Leafeon, they should take this Eevee to Eterna Forest or breed it and evolve its offspring instead.

Enter Eterna Forest from Route 205 and go northwest to the upper section of short grass. There should be a moss rock with a patch of sunlight shining down on it. To get Leafeon, level Eevee up near the Moss Rock. With the permanent EXP Share, Eevee doesn’t need to be at the front of the party to gain experience from battles. If the player has a Rare Candy, they can simply feed it to Eevee to evolve it into Leafeon.

If done correctly, Eevee should evolve into Leafeon. This Eeveelution is a physical attacker with solid Defense and good Speed. Although players may already have a Grass-type on their team at this point, it’s never a bad idea to have Leafeon as a backup.

Evolving Eevee into Glaceon

If players decide they want Glaceon instead of Leafeon, they’ll need to fly north to Snowpoint City and look for the Ice Rock on Route 217.

Go past Acuity Lakefront and enter Route 217. There’s a lot of short grass and snow to trek through, so use a Repel if Wild Pokemon keep jumping out.

After the first bunch of short grass on Route 217, go south past the sign and then go to the right. Players will know if they’re at the right area if there’s a hut and a female skier nearby.

A little ways north of this hut is more grass and the Ice Rock. Level up Eevee by having it battle or gaining EXP from the EXP Share. Since the Pokemon in this area are stronger than the ones in Eterna Forest, it may be better to just have Eevee take a back seat while another Pokemon in the party fights. Although, fighting wild Pokemon can easily be bypassed by feeding Eevee a Rare Candy.

If done correctly and Eevee leveled up near the Ice Rock, it should evolve into Glaceon. Like Leafeon, Glaceon has solid Defense, but it has a low base Speed and Attack. However, it excels in Special Attack and has moderate Special Defense.
