Exciting new events have launched in Pokémon GO for the month of May. Not only will Pokémon fans have the opportunity to catch new Legendary Pokémon unique to the Kalos region, but there will be a chance to encounter Mega Evolutions as well. The month of May will hold many exciting events, like Luminous Legends X and Y, as well as May Community Day. Each of these events will offer rewards for engagement in Pokémon GO.
For those hoping to snag a specific Pokémon species, Pokémon GO’s May Community Day on Saturday the 15th will spotlight certain Pokémon species or types and offer bonuses from 11AM to 5PM local time. While it hasn’t been announced which Pokémon will hold the spotlight hours, any Pokémon spawning in large quantities can be a chance to earn Candy, find a Pokémon with particularly good stats, or even locate a Shiny Pokémon. It has also been announced players will receive bonuses while playing, and could potentially include extra Candy, Stardust, and XP while the event is running.
While Incarnate Forme raids for Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus have come to an end, participating in 5-star raids will continue to be exciting. During the Luminous Legends X event running from May 4th to the 17th, players will be able to encounter the Legendary Fairy-type Pokémon Xerneas. Luminous Legends Y will start on May 18th and finish on June 1st. During this time, Pokémon GO players can catch the Dark-type Legendary Yvetal. Both these Kalos Legendaries haven’t been in raids before, and they will be exciting additions to a team.
Pokémon GO Mega Evolutions Will Continue Throughout May
According to PokemonGoLive, fans of Mega Evolution-capable Pokémon will want to keep a close on the 5-star Pokémon GO raids. The Mega Evolutions available will change throughout the month, starting with Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Lopunny from May 4th to the 15th. Afterward, Mega Ampharos, Mega Houndoom, and a surprise Mega Evolution will take over from May 15th to June 1st. The surprise Legendary has yet to be announced, and will hopefully be another new Pokémon GO debut to add to the current list of available Megas.
Kalos Legendaries and Mega Evolutions won’t be the only exciting opportunities for players throughout May, however. Shadow Moltres is in Team Go Rocket’s clutches later this month. In order to save it from Giovanni, players will need a Super Rocket Radar available upon completion of the special research project “The Higher They Fly”, or a timed research project included in the Luminous Legends X event. Hopefully, Pokémon GO fans will be able to capture each of these special Pokémon before they leave the event cycle at the end of May, giving them a boost in upcoming summer events.
