Pokemon GO – All May 2021 Events

In retrospect, April 2021 was an incredibly busy month on Pokemon GO. The four week period has been jam-packed with shorter length events that were full of exciting tasks and rewards for trainers to take advantage of. There’s still going to be plenty to do when May 2021’s rotation rolls around, but the events are going to be fewer and last a bit longer.

The full May 2021 Pokemon GO events calendar is now live and it looks there are just a few events in place, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a boring month for fans of the mobile AR game. In addition to the expected Community Day (which still features a mystery Pokemon at this point), there is also going to be the New Pokemon Snap Celebration and the recently revealed Luminous Legends events later this month.

Rather than weekly rotating events, May’s calendar is going to give players some room to breath with a handful of longer options. Each of the two part Luminous Legends events is two full weeks of bonuses, features, and special Raid Bosses and spawns for trainers to enjoy. This is certainly an exciting way to shift to warmer weather activities as spring progresses and the start of summer approaches.

Luminous Legends X

From Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to Monday, May 17, 2021, the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas will be making its Pokémon GO debut! With it, various Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild, including some that will be appearing in Pokémon GO for the first time. Our research also shows that you can complete challenges to unlock rewards during the second week of this legendary event.

Luminous Legends Y

From Tuesday, May 18, 2021, to Monday, May 31, 2021, the Legendary Pokémon Yveltal will be making its Pokémon GO debut! We’ve also received word that Team GO Rocket could be planning on causing some trouble around then, and also that Dark-type Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to put your newly caught Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokémon to use! Like the Luminous Legends X event, you’ll be able to unlock rewards during the second week of the Luminous Legends Y event by completing select challenges.

This is a very different approach to April’s event strategy, so it will be interesting to see if the lengthy events are able to hold the attention of the community for their full timeframes or not. As each event kicks off and the full list of tasks, rewards, and features are published trainers should make a point to check back here for all of the details.

Over the next week or so players should continue to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the final weeks of the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
